I just thought I'd share my blog post of today where I did a round-up of all the SYW Russians I'd painted over a 5-week period.

Not bad

The regiments on the blog look very good – I am in awe that you could do that lot in five weeks with a few other things to do along the way. My Russian 7YW are sitting in a tub waiting, waiting. Mind you, I have done their French, Austrian, Hanoverian, British and Prussian counterparts, but that took me about 2 years.

Very nice, I admire your timescale, 5 weeks to do all that is impressive!! Mind you I am a procrastinator and always dipping into things and chopping and changing ranges, I really have to get my self more organised.

Very nicely done, and I especially like the artillery and grenadiers. I am on the precipice of a SYW project, and you are helping to push me over the edge!

Very nice and in such a short space of time!

Wonderful….trying to restrain my self from expanding my small Russian force!

Great work and an ambitious project

One tiny thing – the St. Petersburgsky Horse Grenadiers were originally dragoons – with the tricorne – and when they were converted to Horse Grenadiers in 1756 I believe their headgear changed to grenadier mitres for all ranks

Love the Slobodskiy Hussars – one of my favourite SYW hussar units, bar none

Thanks guys!

@ Artaxerxes – hopefully I've inspired you t paint your Russians

@ Jambo – it is difficult to focus on just one project when there are so many shinies, isn't it?

@ Taxas Jack – glad to have been a good/bad influence

@ Frederick – I have a good excuse for the horse grenadiers being in tricornes – this is the 1760 army when they had abandoned mitres. However, that then means I have to explain why the 1st & 2nd Grenadiers are still wearing theirs!

I would blame the inefficient Russian quartermaster general in not getting those tricornes out in time!

I meant to ask Tamsin – whose figures? I think I see Essex in there, but what else?

And yes, once I've done the last of my RCW I should go back in time and do their SYW forebears!

TamsinP19 Jan 2015 5:25 a.m. PST

@ Frederick – or bolshy grenadiers refusing to give up the mitres!

@ Artaxerxes – all the figures so far are Essex. I might add some from other companies later on when I expand the army.
