Does anyone know what the colours were for the undress cap (a flat topped "pork pie" cap with a pompom in the middle)?
The only sources I have are both for the Guards
1) one belonging to a Guards light company man – it's blue (the facing colour) with a red band around the forehead but the pompom is green (because he was light company?)
2) another for a centre company man – identical but the pom pom is white

Do these colours extend for other regiments? E.g. A regiment with yellow facings would have yellow caps (with a red band and different coloured pompoms)? Or were they always blue?

Any info gratefully received! Thanks

There was great variation between the regiments as the caps were 'unofficial' and therefore there was no sealed pattern. Many regiments had a cap of the coat colour with a band of the facing colour (especially in the cavalry) while in others it was vice versa. The pom-pom being the colour of the plume on the shako was very popular with white for grenadiers, red for battalion companies and green for the light company personnel. However, the reality is that you would have to try and check on the individual regiments to get a totally accurate colour scheme.

Artilleryman beat me to it. A good synopsis is here:

Thanks chaps – very helpful. That pic in the link is especially good, as it's the 44th Foot I'm working on with yellow facings and this shows a blue cap. I didn't think a yellow cap was going to look very pretty!

Here's a mixture for your perusal.
