I am planning to move within the next 3-4 months northwest of Atlanta. I have been in South Florida since 1998 and this relocation will take me away from my current group, SMG. I am looking for a group of Historical Gamers in the area. Are there any out there?

Bill check out Giga Byte's cafe and their online forum. It's in Marietta and seems to be very active.

I relocated from Jacksonville last year to the Southside, Fayetteville specifically. You shouldn't have much trouble finding a group around here.

Well it is a bit far, but there is a good historical war-games group situated at Statesboro, GA. They meet in the excellent Galactic Comics and Games store. I have a pal in Atlanta who might be interested in historical wargaming. If you want ACWBill I could contact him.

When I visit from Columbus,GA I usually try to get to Treefort Games in Fayetteville. They are only open on weekends. I've seen Saga and Bolt Action tournaments being played there. There's also a small group called Second Saturday Gamers which has a Yahoo group. They seem to play a lot of "Check Your Six".

Thanks to all. I will look into all suggestions.

HMGS-MidSouth Siege of Augusta wargaming convention is being held this week-end. I am sure that several Atlanta wargamers will be there.

Hi Bill,
I plan on getting to Siege. I regularly play at Gigabites Café in Marietta and would love to have you come by for a game or two.
I plan on doing some WWII microarmor in the near future.

Bill, we have a group that meets at Treefort in Fayetteville every Saturday. You are more than welcome to join us.

I did SoA last year as a vendor and intend to go back in 2016. Now that I am moving to ATL I will likely go every year.

You know Bill you can always come back home to PA. We miss you (and your games).

ACWBill15 Jan 2015 2:29 p.m. PST

Ha, would likely do so without Barbara. It took me a decade to get her as far north as GA.

drummer15 Jan 2015 2:34 p.m. PST

So are you going to be Northside? Southside? or ITP?

ACWBill15 Jan 2015 2:56 p.m. PST

Northwest

Microbiggie15 Jan 2015 3:37 p.m. PST

Northwest would be Marietta. Sounds good to me

Seems odd that the Atlanta area doesn't have its own HMGS con.

There are a number of us scattered along the north side. Gigabytes is solid and a group plays at Hoobytown as well. A number of us do the basement gaming at our various houses as well.

I certainly plan games at my home as well. So which ever group with which I finally hook up, I plan to be a regular contributor.

I have large numbers of figures and terrain and enjoy gaming in multiple scales and periods.

FIW 28mm
AWI 28mm
Napoleonics 10mm and 28mm
MAW 28mm
ACW 10mm* and 28mm and 1/600 Naval
Crimean War 28mm
WWI 28mm and 1/2400 Naval
WWII Micros ground and Air (I love the Red Sun, Blue Skies set)
and WWII 1/2400 Naval
Plus and endless, growing mound of unpainted lead and plastic.

Probably stuff I forgot in the list above.

…I find this thread after I leave Atlanta. Of course.

But if you want a store with decent art/hobby supplies, Sam Flax isn't bad. A bit pricy (but I had discounts because of my connections to the museum community). Hobbytown USA isn't bad on weekends (but Barrett Parkway is a nightmare on weekdays), but they don't have everything. The internet and stores with online shops will be your best resources.
