How much weight in unpainted metal miniatures (a.k.a. 'lead') do you have on hand?

a. I'm lead-free at the moment.
b. not much, below 1 lb.
b. 1 lb. to 5 lbs. (a shoe box)
c. 5 lbs. to 9.9 lbs. (two or three shoe boxes)
d. 10 lbs. to 19.9 lbs. (several shoe boxes)
d. 20 lbs. to 29.9 lbs. (a stack of shoe boxes)
e. 30 lbs. or above

one of the d's, maybe an e. I don't like to think about it.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2015 5:53 p.m. PST

c or d but I'm not going to check just in case.

Winston Smith14 Jan 2015 5:55 p.m. PST

Less than I did before.
Can't afford frivolous "shiny" spending anymore and am culling the pile.

There is still enough that I wouldn't want to go swimming with it any more.

Rrobbyrobot14 Jan 2015 5:57 p.m. PST

Not nearly enough. I'll go work on that…

Sundance14 Jan 2015 6:13 p.m. PST

Yeah, I'm in the d to maybe e range. I'm working on it! That's my goal for this year – paint more than I buy. So far, it's working, but it's only Janua – oooooo, shiny!

Personal logo McKinstry Supporting Member of TMP Fezian14 Jan 2015 6:16 p.m. PST

Too much.

wrgmr114 Jan 2015 6:18 p.m. PST

Best guess, c.
However that does not include plastic and resin.

Including those, it would be the first d.

B.

I'm pretty good at finishing my projects, so most of what I have is just odds and ends.

E Plus

michaelsbagley14 Jan 2015 7:59 p.m. PST

Probably in the "C" or maybe "D" range… Likely more "D" than not

TMPWargamerabbit14 Jan 2015 8:10 p.m. PST

Most periods have case E+ for weight….. Ancients, Medieval, WSS, Napoleonic, ACW, Naval, WWII. Hundredweight may be a better measuring unit of measure, especially for total weight.

House cannot blow away in windstorm… too heavy as commented by friends.

Landorl14 Jan 2015 8:36 p.m. PST

D1 – I have more than I can ever get painted and yet I can't stop buying more…

I have a problem…

Personal logo gamertom Supporting Member of TMP14 Jan 2015 9:24 p.m. PST

If I put everything from all the unfinished projects, "don't those look neat" purchases, and all different scales – e without a doubt.

Easily E. I bet I have more than 30 lbs of just unpainted Games Workshop stuff.

I have at least 8 lbs of unpainted Foundry Macedonians alone.

Charlie 1214 Jan 2015 10:16 p.m. PST

Waaaaaaaay too much…. I don't like to think about it…. Nor do I let my girlfriend know about it….

Jakse37514 Jan 2015 10:30 p.m. PST

E:since buying a "fixer upper" house, almost 3 years ago now, all my painting has been done with a 9 inch roller and 1 1/4 inch cut in brush. Since then I've received two unpainted piles from other collectors, my late father and a coworkers husband. I've got unpainted lead from early Julie Guthrie Fantasy to newer 28mm scifi that I haven't quite figured out who made them. There's at least 4 "paper" boxes (standard 5000 sheet office type boxes) full of blisters and boxes of minis, not including what I already had before the additions. Hell, the war elephant alone is probably close to 10 lbs.

COL Scott ret14 Jan 2015 11:22 p.m. PST

A little less than a pound of lead. Plastic that is another story my plastic outweighs my lead by several times. It would be equivilent to D or E in volume.

53Punisher15 Jan 2015 12:06 a.m. PST

E++

Martin Rapier15 Jan 2015 12:15 a.m. PST

Not much, I am generally fairly organised about what I buy and paint. Probably b by weight, but by volume more like several shoe boxes as much of it is plastic.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP15 Jan 2015 12:41 a.m. PST

D – maybe E but since I took "the pledge" and bought no minis last year the pile has shrunk

Scoman15 Jan 2015 12:59 a.m. PST

c – and thanks for reminding me, hid them away so werent in my face all the time :(

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP15 Jan 2015 4:20 a.m. PST

E not including plastics

JimDuncanUK15 Jan 2015 4:38 a.m. PST

More than you can imagine!

redbanner414515 Jan 2015 5:15 a.m. PST

B I pretty much only buy what I will paint right away.

Norrins15 Jan 2015 5:18 a.m. PST

Feels like too much. Couldn't tell you the weight, but it amounts to about to a couple of hundred 28mm figures.

GatorDave Supporting Member of TMP15 Jan 2015 6:48 a.m. PST

Probaly E in just Front Rank never mind the rest…..

Martin15 Jan 2015 7:14 a.m. PST

E though it's mostly pewter, plastic and resin as opposed to lead these days.

The second D.
It is that much due primarily to 15mm Naps. I already have about 6000 painted Naps.

D(2) , but mine ain't shoe boxes, they are stackable plastic things from the DIY store.

mad monkey 115 Jan 2015 9:43 a.m. PST

E+. Including the crapload of Dust mini's I got from FFG big sale.

Axebreaker15 Jan 2015 9:46 a.m. PST

Which period? If you mean all I have then let's just say I wouldn't need to get a gym membership as I would have plenty to lift so easily E. Albeit in the past couple years I have been getting a little better in snap buys, but still plenty of room for improvement.

E+, especially in old Citadel minis I can't seem to bear to part with.

It occurred to me the other day that I don't consider "non-tabletop ready" plastics as part of Lead Mountain. They are just "bits". I am a metal minis elitist!
