I've been working like a mad Venetian to get all the ships finalized and ready for production, tuning the pieces for easy assembly, adding details and setting them up for production cutting. I'm still havering about having the galley models as free cut pieces, or sprued up. The former is where I'm currently leaning. This week I've concentrated on the Christian and Turkish galleys and galliot models.
The models are very easy to assemble, and after a few, erm, tangled attempts I can now say that I've found an easy way to rig them as well (which I'll do a step by step in an upcoming blog).
Each galley will come with a set of crew and smoke markers, a printed sheet of flags and awnings, and a fusta damage dice holder galley.
For more, including a battle report from the latest playtests of "Galleys Guns and Glory!", skull on over to my blog skullandcrown.blogspot.com

Those look great! I thought of trying to design some Greek/Roman/Hellenistic ships using that stacked piece approach in 1/300ish (6mm) scale, way back when I first got the Roman Seas paper ships, but never got around to doing anything with the idea. Looks like you've executed it just about perfectly! Have you thought about doing earlier ships? I think there would be a market for them. Thanks, Doug |

I had the fortune of playtesting these rules, lots of fun, fast moving and they give you the feel of galley combat. Plus the ship models are top notch! Looking forward to the final release! |

Thanks gents for the kindly feedback- Elsyrsyn – I have noodled about ancients ships, and am still trying to figure an aesthetic way to create the graceful lines. Right now I just want to focus on the renaissance galleys and make sure they get the love needed. SgtPrylo- winning one internets is the best thing- Thanks! Always a mantra for my game designs is, "not only is it fun, it looks good". Walt and Clif, I'm as excited as you are to get galleys into your hands, but I really want to make sure that they are all ship shape(see what I did there) and that I have all the flag sets laid out, printed and ready before they go to market. I'm pretty much a one man shop so just being careful to cross my yard arms and dot my Ayes in creating the best product I can for you- and me! The plan is for seven different ships and the rules (and a starter set) to be up for sale on my webstore in mid to late February, depending on printing turn around. I'll announce on the main TMP Thanks to all, please keep the questions coming- and keep your eyes peeled for previews of my other ships in the coming weeks.
until then, keep your powder dry! Thomas Foss Skull and Crown Strategems skullncrown.com |
