"The fourth oversized special issue from Eaglemoss' Official Starships Collection will be the new Klingon Bird of Prey from Into Darkness, identified as a D4 class in the film, and solicited by Eaglemoss as a Klingon Patrol Ship. Posting on the Star Trek Modellers Facebook group, The Collection's manager, Ben Robinson, has shown off the model for the first time, and it is glorious:…"

Hmmm. I wonder if it's big enough to use as a 15mm Surface Attack Fighter? |

Warlock…I agree with you. That green bit at the front just screams "cockpit". The overall shape reminds me of the 1980s Cylon Raider. But that seems to be the direction of Kligon and Romulan ship forms after the original series: gigantic fighters. Even the Attack Wing game plays more like "space fighters" than "space battleships". Which makes this Star Fleet Battles and Starfire veteran wistful for the days when ships were ships and fighters were fighters… :-) |

Nice ship, but like almost everything that was "reimagined" for the JJ Verse, it doesn't say Trek to me. The Klingon D7 is one of the most iconic ships of all time along with the Enterprise the ISD and the Millennium Falcon. They didn't need to mess with it. I know this is a D4, but that ship was already established in canon as being a smaller version of the D7. Another example of Hollywood "fixing" what ain't broke. |

So far I hate all of the JJ Abrams "Trek" ships, *sigh* Looking at this one, I suppose it's okay as a heavy fighter or a dropship. But a Klingon warship? Uhm… no. |

I actually like the JJAbrams Enterprise, but this thing needs the long gooseneck like the rest of the Klingon ships. It's the old-series Romulans that didn't have a gooseneck! |

Except for the Klingon ships the Romulans were using in one episode of TOS. This is often referred to as a period when the Klingons and Romulans were exchanging technology. Although some sources say the Klingon Bird of Prey was originally a Romulan ship. |

Sargonares – I've read much the same about the Klingon Bird of Prey. Something about the Romulan miniature effects being complete when the studio decided the Klingons were more popular. Keith F. |
