It seems like there's always some kind of goings on with the editors…Mugging, Gall Stones…whatever else. |

I thought the thread titles clearly informed us of the topic. No offence but I'm not overly interested in their doings either so I mostly don't open such threads. Like a lot of things here, it's not hard. You might find this news story instructive: link |

Seems natural to report now and then on the goings on of our little TMP family, especially as it relates to their work schedule. (With their permission, of course.) With a staff of seven (including myself), there will always be something going on. I have some personal news I'll be passing along soon enough… |

Doesn't concern me. I don't even need to know that they exist much less what they are up to. But since I do I hope they get better. |

This will no doubt cause some offense, but I for one could do without updates on the Editors' personal lives. Bill, please put these in a separate board, so that we can opt out of these updates. I don't want to turn of TMP Talk, because I am interested in discussions about the format and organization of this website. |

So much complaining about little things. Just too funny. |

One virtue of having the board would be that we could block it out ;-) |

One thing I noted that when they are out there are more errors so they are doing a great job. |

Ivan…that's what I was getting at. I don't care what happens in there lives. I don't wish them ill will, I just don't care. I don't put up a post when my 2 year old s in the potty. I don't care about wisdom teeth extraction… |
Ratbone | 14 Jan 2015 11:24 a.m. PST |
I don't care a whit either, however, our members and users seem to love posting all their own personal life updates so why shouldn't the editors? As for being swamped with the messages, just scroll right past the darn thing and look at the next topic. |

As usual, click on the topic if the title interests, don't if it doesn't. What's so hard about that? Thanks to Tango01 for making the Mob goad The Editor in Chief into increasing the topics viewed on the front page to 400 topics in the vanilla Message Boards. Three topics out of 400 (not counting the Plus or Lounge or Polls Talk or News Talk…) had to do with updates on the staff. I clicked on one, and only because it had a few more comments than normal. I had my say. I didn't click on the others. Just out of curiosity, I occasionally do a simple math analysis of the percentage of topics on the Front Page that I actually open and read. It's usually less than 10%. Topics about the Staff are to me as "offensive" or interesting as topics about Aspern Essling. |

I think Kyoteblue has hit the nail on the head, the editors themselves would be better off engaging with the community here. As it is we are hardly aware of their existence except when Bill mentions them in times of crisis. More to the point, several of them expressed an interest in learning more about wargaming yet we never see them taking part on the forums. Even Bill has been known to join in and show a passing interest in wargaming on occasion! |

If Bill feels it appropriate for updates like these, why not just start a single, long-running thread titled "editorial team news" or similar, which could be added to ad infinitum as required? Reminds me of something similar, somewhere else…? |

First time I've ever really come across a company that seems to report its employees every incident. +1 to that, and to take it further -- I think it is social media creep (things that one would expect to see in twitter/facebook/etc. to, "followers," creeping into TMP.) To echo kyoteblue, if one of the goals for the Editors (think I read this somewhere) is to get better with their skills at English and gaming, then yes, they should absolutely get out of the (perceived) TMP shadows and actively engage in subject threads. Despite how cynical and ornery we all can be, I know we'll cut some slack because we CAN take into account the lack of experience – fear not and ENGAGE. |

I think it is social media creep… Not necessarily a bad thing. …if one of the goals for the Editors (think I read this somewhere) is to get better with their skills at English and gaming, then yes, they should absolutely get out of the (perceived) TMP shadows and actively engage in subject threads. I have passed your comments along to them. |
