I am very frustrated with yellow acrylics – really struggle to get them covering. I have Vallejo and Foundry.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a foolproof acrylic yellow that has good coverage?

Try a craft acrylic like Americana or another these are usually very opaque. I usually under coat with a white when I get a yellow that is too transparent.

Which is why you should never be afraid to ask. You may get new answers not covered two years ago.

I am sure some dolt in the name of laconic brevity will post some "TMP link". That's rude.

I use Jo Sonja's 'Turners Yellow', available in art ant craft shops in Australia (or Melbourne at least)
Better and denser pigment than any bottle acrylic I've tried.

Comes in a tube, and with a touch of white added, two coats will give you a nice bright yellow.

As much as I hate to punt them but I believe GW yellows do the job well. I usually use white the yellow to get it bright though.

Strong reds and yellows can be got from artist quality acrylic paint that is sold in tubes at art shops. The artist quality carries more pigment than the student quality pants (also sold in tubes), but are obviously dearer.

Cel Vinyl brand paints is what many recommend. For red, too.

I use Games Workshop Citadel yellow acrylic and find them to be good. I also use their matt black and their matt white.

I fight the same thing. I use black undercoat and have just come to the realization that if I am covering a large area with yellow or white, I am going to have to do two coats. That said, I have found that the Citadel yellow and white cover small areas in one coat better than most other paints that I have tried. I may have to give in and start using white undercoat.

Try Vallejo Acrylic Gouache. Very opaque.

I use Liquitex artist colors, it covers pretty good.

I always paint white first and then paint yellow over the white. Works for me.

Try Delta Ceramcoat or Folk Art. They are my craft paints of choice. Nice, creamy consistency and good coverage.

I have been using a good artists (Windsor and Newtons) cadium yellow on a white/light undercoat. Even so usually needs two coats. I sometimes tone it down with soft army painter wash.

Delta Ceramcoat straw covers very well.

I've tried many of them, and GW's foundation line yellow is the best. It beats the craft brands hands down. Cel Vinyl is probably second best and does a good job as well but doesn't cover quite as well.

"I always paint white first and then paint yellow over the white. Works for me."

But then you have to paint it twice. If you got a better yellow you wouldn't have to do that.
