When I hit the back button in my browser while on TMP, I get sent to a magazine ad site ("lez-monde" or something like that). Is this caused by the new advertising? Because I HATE IT. To make matters worse, it's currently showing me Ellen Degeneris, who I find to be obnoxious.

Is this a TMP thing, or could there be another cause? I'm not noticing it with other sites (yet).

CRAP! Now it's happening when I click on ANY link in TMP!

The site is "lemode-mgz".

Please fix this, Bill!

Wargamer Blue09 Jan 2015 3:26 p.m. PST

Not happening to me

Personal logo Parzival Supporting Member of TMP09 Jan 2015 3:26 p.m. PST

Checked my "block pop-ups" setting. No effect. Grrrrrrrrrr……

Clear cache and try again

You'll doubtless be unsurprised to hear it's a Google Adsense thing, and has come up on a number of forums. The only workaround appears to be using an adblocker…. :-(

jeffreyw309 Jan 2015 3:43 p.m. PST

No problems here…

tberry740309 Jan 2015 4:19 p.m. PST

I am NOT seeing this problem:

Firefox 34.0.5

Windows 8.1

I am sure I would be bitching too if I had not been gifted a Supporting Membership. Squeaky wheels?

William Warner09 Jan 2015 4:49 p.m. PST

I have been suffering from this problem too.

Supporting members posting "no problem here" – no, there won't be – it's an AdSense problem, so will only affect basic members. Lucky them. :-(

Zematus09 Jan 2015 5:42 p.m. PST

Alternatively, use Google's self-help features built into all their ads:
1) Click the little blue 'X' in the top right corner of the ad.
2) Select 'Stop seeing this ad.'

Not completely the case – I get side bar adverts when I visit the Statistics Homepage.

Oh, and the stats seem to have gone a bit haywire again.

Does it happen just on TMP?

Mako1109 Jan 2015 6:41 p.m. PST

Glad to see it is not doing that to me, at least currently.

I have noticed a lot of Russian women watching me though, from the left side of the screen.

Certainly better that Solar City trying to sell me panels, or the Cheap Car Window Repair at the bottom of the page (finally, truth in advertising from a company, regarding their service quality – never thought I'd see that in an ad).

Great War Ace09 Jan 2015 6:52 p.m. PST

I get the sidebar and bottom ads at TMP's "Statistics" page too.

And my post count changes up and down daily….

Bill, if you Google "lemode-mgz" you'll get a bunch of hits reporting the same issue on all manner of different forums recently – certainly appears to be an AdSense issue.

Does it happen just on TMP?

Yes. But it's not happening on my iPad.

artaxerxes09 Jan 2015 10:43 p.m. PST

ABP is your friend. :-)

FreddBloggs10 Jan 2015 3:28 a.m. PST

It is a cookie/malware type issue, run hitman pro and it vanishes (until it gets re-installed).

FreddBloggs10 Jan 2015 11:22 a.m. PST

This problem is brilliant, instead of an ad, it replaces the TMP page with the new page, it took me 9 attempts to get here to report that it took that long.

No adblockers are not an option as I log in to see how it looks to basic members, If I want to bypass I log in on my advertiser account…

Well for the moment at least.

I'm not a supporting member and it's not happening to me.

Sounds like a browser hijack malware problem to me.

Mike Target11 Jan 2015 6:09 a.m. PST

I had this, again only on TMP, lasted for 3 days. I googled the problem and quite a few folk on several websites have mentioned it, all in the last few days.

Apparently the solution is to fiddle with your browser settings. So I did, no problem since, though Ive no idea which settings actually helped…

It's unlikely to be malware, as I use Mac OS X Mavericks, to which little malware exists. If it is, then the source would be TMP, which I would find to be somewhat a stunning occurrence, both in the source and how a Mac-specific malware would have become embedded here. So I suspect that instead of malware, it's an issue with AdSense and its implementation on TMP. Probably a coding issue specific to TMP, as other AdSense sites don't produce this problem at all. In any case, it needs to be corrected.

Parzival – other AdSense sites might not currently produce the same error for you, but as I posted earlier, a quick Google will find dozens of other forums with people complaining of exactly the same thing.

Sorry - only verified members can post on the forums.
