Gents, I have some 28mm German mountain troops I have been asked to paint as similar but Hungarian. Whilst adding the feathers is done, some are in smocks. I have searched t'inernet and found no reference and the Osprey book shows a Para type in a smock, do any of you gents know if the Hungarian Mountain troops were ever issued with smocks? I suspect he won't mind if I just paint them plain, but if there is any evidence that the Hungarian Mountain troops wore camouflage smocks I would be most grateful, cheers Tally Ho! |

What little bit that I've been able to find is that the Hungarian army used mostly German camo, and mostly officers used it. There were a few italian camo items used as well. It seems logical that an elite unit may have a few more such items, having 'organized' them from a shipment perhaps. |

If they are actual GJ smocks (as opposed to Heer or SS camo smocks) then a lot of them were plain in any case – the mysterious 'mushroom grey' shade (as sort of greyish tan). Similar colour to the early war windjacke. |
