When I have drunk wine during my five (to date) Napoleonic wargame battles I have won. When I drink beer during my Roman v British wargames, I rarely win. Is that a good case for drinking wine during a wargame? Can someone recommend a good case …of wine! |

I'm not a wine drinker, so no recommendations. Shouldn't this topic have been named "Let us wine over wargaming"? |

I've recently had to stop drinking most types of beer because of the glutten content. (O-mission and Greens beer are all I can drink now) but I can still drink wine. I'll let you know if your hypothesis holds up. |

No, it's a good reason to stop playing Ancients and concentrate on Napoleonics. |

my buddy just knocked my wine glass over and spilled it all over a board game last Saturday, completely ruining it. he had to buy a new copy. luckily, it happened while the owner was explaining the rules, and I was loosing interest rapidly, so it saved me from having to play! I intend to always have a glass on hand for boring games. |

oh yeah, I and I recommend whiskey over wine of beer. I find myself not caring who wins, or even able to finish the game. just kidding. that only happened a couple times |

I would recommend a wine for the area of conflict, so a good Rioja for Peninsular games, and a Falernian (or the modern equivalent) for Roman games. Some nibbles always help too, a few cheeses and olives |

US:Pennywise make a good Cabernet. Guenoc make a good claret. Was lucky to get a great case of Uruguayan wine 2 years ago but the distributer hasn't been back since. Would also recommend a Scicilian Nero d'Avola. |

Port – The ideal accompaniment to an old school wargame – drink enough and you won't care/remember the result anyway… |

If you're playing Prussians, try brandy and chocolate. It worked for Blucher. |

Port gets my vote……it will go nicely with some whining gamers I know, never served have no idea how hard it is to cross a ploughed field with weight but are all experts on movement. |

I like the sweet fruity ones but we tend to drink beer, mountain dew or tea. |
