As of today, none of the four buttons on the HMGS Cold Wars 2015 site have any content--clicking on them does nothing.
Is the PEL supposed to be available currently? Online registration starts in four more days on 01/10/15 per the calendar provided.

Also, the deadline for online registration ends at 12am February 14. that means 14Feb 2015 at 00:00:00, or one second after 23:59:59 on February 13th. This may cause some confusion and hard feelings if people are thinking they can pre-register on Feb 14th.
Could Dan Poniatowski please address this and clarify it for the HGMS membership? Was it intended that we have the 14th for registration, or does it indeed end at midnight on Feb 13 (which a recheck of the calendar seems to indicate?
Please ignore the wild-eyed man beating the dead horse.

nazrat06 Jan 2015 12:28 p.m. PST

I believe the PEL comes online at the same time registration does.

pvi99th06 Jan 2015 1:49 p.m. PST

The PEL for last year was up on December 27 and registration opened on January 13th. I just found the post from last year.

I think that may be why there is some concern,

"Online Registration will open Jan. 10, 2015 and run through Feb. 13, 2015"

As written…. I understand it to be midnight on the 13th.

According to what I have been told that it means the 14th at midnight.

I would be cautious and do it on the 13th just in case.

As for the PEL… it is done and ready to go up. That is all I know. And no, I don't have "early access".. I just know it is done… Look for it to be posted very soon.

Also.. check out the important dates blue box.

Cold Wars brochure is hitting mailboxes today in East Coast…. NJ to be specific… confirmed.

I'll check my mailbox when I get home…. I live in western PA.

Thanks for the response, Dan.

But the last time I checked, you were not in charge of Cold Wars. You have enough to do with running a successful and growing Fall In.

Yes, the Cold Wars PEL is not available yet, which is disappointing. But don't take it out on Dan, who may be the only current HMGS official left who still "answers" his TMP "fan mail."

As far as the deadline for on line registration is concerned, the answer is simple. If you want to avoid problems, never wait until the last day to pre-register.

As a general rule, I never wait until the last day to do anything. A lesson I learned in the so-called "real world" ages ago.

Just went to the Cold Wars site and the PEL is UP….

Yep, just went there and gave them a quick lookover.
Games (the PEL) and the tournaments listing are active, if slow to open. The Hobby University & Seminars links are not working yet.

I am just trying to help. No offense to anyone. We are currently working toward the goal of having all shows under the same template so that there is no confusion going from show to show. As members, you have a voice… more folks do listen than you think.

I am very excited for CW… I'll get to see a lot of people I only see at the shows. Frank runs a great show all around, so I know I wil lhave plenty of fun.

And, I will always be happy to try to answer any questions.

Thanks, Dan.

You continue to shoulder more than your share of the load for HMGS.

Yes, the Cold Wars PEL is up and running. My thanks to all those who made it happen.

Enjoy the games.

ViscountEric08 Jan 2015 10:34 a.m. PST

Oh joy of joys!

Now to determine if I should stay Thurs-Sat afternoon or Friday-Sunday.

Poniatowski08 Jan 2015 10:43 a.m. PST

Never think I do more…. I just expose myself to different venues. I believe that they all work hard, it is just that we don't see all avenues.

I like using TMP as a sounding board because TMP is a great forum.

Am I reading right?
On the Online Registration Page for Cold Wars 2015, beneath the Topic labeled "Registration Information" and right above the links for "Register" and "View Sessions" there is a notation that online registration is available until 03/06/2015??
Isn't that the first date of the event?
From the HMGS site, choose Cold Wars/Convention Registration/Online Registrations is OPEN, ending up on Cold Wars 2015 Online Registration

Or link directly there:
link

And I have a screen shot of the notation to prove I'm not (that) crazy.

Disco Joe11 Jan 2015 1:17 p.m. PST

So when will we see what the t-shirt for the con looks like.

historygamer11 Jan 2015 3:23 p.m. PST

Is it just me or are the flyers for the cons completely underwhelming? If they are going to be that bare bones, perhaps save the money and just mail a post card as a reminder.

Has the online registration deadline been extended? On the HMGS website, under Cold Wars, Registration Information, it says "Online registration is available until: 3/6/2015" but earlier in this thread it says Feb. 13, 2015… Which is correct? I will undoubtedly register sooner than either deadline, but point this out in the interest of accuracy.

Thanks in advance for the clarification

TheKing3011 Jan 2015 4:02 p.m. PST

I just checked the site….

Online registration begins on 1/10/15 through 2/13/15

The convention starts on 6pm on Thursday, March 5th. The first full day of the convention is Friday, March 6th.

Does that help?

capncarp11 Jan 2015 4:10 p.m. PST

I'm with custosarmorum: all the calendar entries show 02/13 as the last full day of online registration.
Go to:
HMGS Home page
then:
Important Convention Dates
Go to last link:
HMGS Calendar Events
Week Tab-- hmgs.site-ym.com/?HMGSCalendar
Month Tab-- hmgs.site-ym.com/?HMGSCalendar
Agenda tab-- hmgs.site-ym.com/?HMGSCalendar
The last Agenda entry is on Friday, February 13th for "Cold Wars Online Registration"

Quoth theking30: "I just checked the site….

It helps only if you read this message board, and this thread specifically. The registration site page needs to be fixed, and a big red flashing banner put up clarifying the correct cut-off date.

custosarmorum Supporting Member of TMP11 Jan 2015 6:30 p.m. PST

Thanks for the clarification. I see the correct date on the site now. Normally I would chalk this up to my inability to navigate the web or just another senior moment, but oddly the bit in quotes in my initial post was cut and pasted from the site… go figure.

capncarp12 Jan 2015 10:32 a.m. PST

OK, folks, I was just there and it has been changed to 2/13.

All is well. Nothing more to see here. Move along.
Thanks to whoever keeps the site running.

Quoting mesself:
"Could Dan Poniatowski please address this and clarify it for the HMGS membership?"

To Dan: Sorry for dumping it at you. I figured since you were basically everywhere, watching everything, that you could use your mystical influence and get everything fixed up all right, like you did for Fall-In.

So, Dan, I take it we give you a break every century or so? That's what comes of being too reliable/efficient/trustworthy/etc/etc…
Thanks.
