They look incredible! I cannot believe you painted all those miniatures. If I didn't have ADD, I most certainly would have by the time I was done…

Fantastic job!

Can I ask what the thickness and material of your bases are? I love them.

HI ccmatty, thanks! Basing is just 3mm MDF, see here:

We are going to have to have another huge Napoleonic game to see these guys on the table top.

Fantastic effort.. True discipline!
What do the 2 smaller 24 man units represent?
Thanks for posting.

It feels good to accomplish that number of figures, doesn't? Nice work!! Thanks for posting you are truly inspirational.

HussarL02 Jan 2015 6:57 p.m. PST

Amazing!

Markconz02 Jan 2015 9:39 p.m. PST

Thanks all! ISLP- the 24 strong are just smaller units, required for Lasalle, might make them up to 36's at some stage.

Trajanus03 Jan 2015 3:17 a.m. PST

That's a lot of white paint!

wargame insomniac03 Jan 2015 8:22 a.m. PST

That is an impressive mass of Austrians. I hate painting white but you have done it so perfectly. Great stuff!!

huevans01103 Jan 2015 8:52 a.m. PST

What regiments did you choose?

Very well done- that is quite an achievement!

Markconz03 Jan 2015 12:26 p.m. PST

Thanks again! huevans – regts are something like 24, 55, 9, 35, 22, 38, 50, 42. Basically just trying to get a colourful variety of facings!

You're a dedicated man – well done! They're very pretty!

Widowson03 Jan 2015 3:11 p.m. PST

No Hungarians in shakos and blue breeches? For shame!

Markconz03 Jan 2015 4:16 p.m. PST

Thanks Mserfin!

Widowson, yes a couple of Hungarian regiments are planned, though I wish the Perry Hungarian pack had more pose variety… it's a bit lacklustre compared to their other offerings:

Perry Hungarian command is nice though:

Superb Work

AuvergneWargamer06 Jan 2015 6:17 a.m. PST

Well done!

I'm doing a selection of Austrians too in 1:20 but those 48 figure battalions are struggle.

Still, you can always field smaller battalions!

Not really!

Cheers,

Paul

Not to hijack the thread, but have you tried Victrix Austrians? And if you have, how they compare with Perry's? I want to use as much plastic as I can, and Perry's have not grenadiers in plastic, so I was thinking about using Victrix.

Markconz06 Jan 2015 12:38 p.m. PST

Thanks for further comments! Paul 48 figure battalions sounds like a struggle indeed but they will look awesome!

Basileus, no problem and yes I have two boxes of Victrix Grenadiers for similar reasons to yourself, which I think will be fine alongside the Perry figures. I will post pictures when they are done, though I have some artillery to finish off, and Landwehr to start, before I get onto them! I'll see if I can post a few comparison shots before painting in the next week perhaps. I believe that Victrix are very slightly taller than Perry but that is appropriate for Grenadiers anyway. I also bought the Victrix old and middle guard to go alongside my Perry French Line, for similar reasons. (Just wish someone made French Young guard in plastic as I need a tonne of them!)

I have found that the Perry Plastics are fully intermixable with the Victrix plastics . The heads are fully exchangeable . The uniforms are slightly different with the Perry's being of the later type .These I use for new recruits and mainly occupy the 3rd battalion. Once painted up they are virtually indistinguishable . So yeah mix for variety. As for numbers, I am going for 48s in the first 2 battalions and 36 for the weaker no3 Battalion.

@Mark – Those Austrians are a credit to you and look superb. My modus operandi is a bit different than yours. Mine is paint an infantry battalion and then paint something else eg cavalry squadron or gun etc. Not as quick as your goodself but I think you started a little before me . My fledgling Austrian force to date consists of 3 Infantry battalions, 1 "division" of Heavy Cavalry ( 12) and 1 gun ( battery in BP).Just need to do a brigadier to make it a useable force for Black Powder.

Keep up the good work ! :)

Thanks mysteron, I look forward to seeing some of your figures too! Good to know you've found the Victrix fine as well.
