Two Davids Productions is pleased to announce the publication of its first book of scenarios, That Embattled Isle. This makes available the seven-scenario set of historical battles we have run at past conventions on the East Coast of the US. The scenarios are written for 2.2+; conversion for 2.2 players is trivial and supported in the book. Conversion for 3.0 players would take a bit more work (and is not described in the book) but the scenarios would still be interesting to players of 3.0. The book is published print-on-demand through Lulu and Amazon.com. Paperback, 45 pages, $27.95 USD through Amazon, $22.36 USD (20% reduction) through Lulu. Includes a full-page color map image of each scenario. Purchase through Lulu is available immediately; it takes a few days for Amazon to get its databases set up. wadbag.com/TwoDavids We would like to thank everyone who encouraged us and helped us on this project, especially those who reviewed early drafts. Looking forward to receiving my copy and wondering why there aren't more of these sorts of things available for DBA with the internet easing the way for all things. |

A high price for such a short book,45 pages for £16.36 GBP and that is with a discount as it was priced £20.45 GBP. Ronin only cost £11.00 GBP and it has rules pictures and a few scenarios. |

You mean the Ronin skirmish wargame that Osprey Publications puts out? It is a great compliment to be compared to an Osprey publication, but logistically, you are comparing apples and oranges. Osprey is a large publishing company that has its own printing equipment and a variety of economies of scale. They've published more than two thousand different titles over 45 years. Our book is published print-on-demand through Lulu. We could have cut the price a couple of bucks if we published just through Lulu, but we wanted to make it available through Amazon as well, and that increases the price point. Nothing we could do about that; we can't compete with Osprey on a price basis. This is a niche publication; we'll be pleased if we sell three digits worth of books. No way we sell four digits. To us, our book is worth more than a half-tank of gas (quarter tank, in the UK), and more than dinner for two at a cheap restaurant. But then, we're DBA players -- if you choose to publish a set of DBA scenarios in a high-quality book at about $3 USD per scenario, I guarantee we buy your book! |
