What is the coolest name for Ultra modern gaming in the middle east?
Afghanisraq
Afraqistan
Iraqistan
I want to use a name like we do when gamers are doing AK47 style games in fictional Africa.

Here is the scratch on the surface.

I am thinking this site might get me that feedback. Someone who knows. Without getting into disrespecting the commitment and the sacrifice our troops make. I have been looking at a lot of DVD's from the library.

I like the Baker Boys DVD.

I've only heard Iraqistan as the somewhat humorous nickname for that part of the world while I was in Helmand/Kandahar. Afraqistan also works, but Afghanisraq just isn't a formulation that sounds like a country name at all. I'd recommend going with Lamekanistan which, forgive me if I transliterated it incorrectly, means "nowhere-istan."

Battle Rattle covers both OIF/OEF, I'd think (unless you're looking for a semi-humorous term for the region).

Containerized Housing Unit (CHU) also known as 'cans' where I served are sometimes collectively called CHUville.

My brother was a chopper pilot in Afghanistan and well, you could not use the names he would come up with. Nor can I post them here…

Jihadistan or more traditionally East of Suez.

Personally I like "The Sandbox." Evocative, simple and not terribly offensive.

Tazbekistan

Agree with "Sandbox". It's short and sweet, it's solid soldier slang, and it can apply to everywhere of (gaming) interest.

Weasel03 Jan 2015 11:40 a.m. PST

Sandbox has a nice double play as well, since it also refers to us playing with toy soldiers.

We're working on an expansion for Age of Madness called Afraqistan. It's a fictional island set in the Indian ocean. It will also be "rules agnostic" to work with games such as Ambush Alley. We'll also be launching a website (Afraqistan.com) to cover news and background information on an ongoing basis.

If you're looking for an AK-47 style moderns game check out Warfare in the Age of Madness and the free moderns expansion A Clear and Present Madness. Its main feature is complete force customization as with AK-47 Republic but cover moderns, near future, and post-apoc.

That sounds quite a bit like Jeff of Saxe-Bearstein's Afristan which used The Sword and The Flame rules.
