I was lucky enough to finish my gaming year in some style, playing a large game of Hail Caesar set in the Reconquista.
A report and more than 80 pictures can be found here:

Some teasers:

Lovely figures!

I could so easily get into that period, thank the Lord that what passes for sanity is in vogue at the moment! ;O)

Great looking game and figures. I like the basing for the light cavalry, may have to use those ideas. Shame about Charlton H at the end. Still he went down fighting.

I asked this same question on LAF: is the Cid dead or only unhorsed? You two don't have the details in agreement. (Odd that both of you are posting there and here about the very same game with the same piccies too. Don't you read each other's posts?…)

great looking figures! What scale are they?

scrivs01 Jan 2015 2:47 a.m. PST

Well we rolled a '1' for a general casualty, that is dead in my books.
All the figures are 28mm, mine are mostly Gripping Beast and Perry Miniatures – all metal, so the collection is very weighty.

Yes, the rules said dead, but history tells us he lived for a couple more years…

As for the separate posts, that's easy, individual posts drive much more traffic to the blog. I only get around 25% of the visits if I add my link to someone else's post, so doing my own post is a no-brainer.
And the pictures aren't the same – they feature the same game and soldiers, but I took all the ones on my blog, and Scrivs took all the ones on his.

For those praising the figures I must point out that nearly all of them (and all the terrain) were James' and Scrivs' models – I only supplied four units in all of that.

Well, you are both very good piccie takers. I must have been tired, not to notice the difference, especially in the number of pics, etc. But the picture quality is very good on both posts….

Smashing looking game!

Excellent blog entry there – +1 on your philosophy and especially on how you stated it. About time we claimed our hobby back grin.

And great game by the look of it – excellent end to the year

Wonderful figures, beautiful collection, and great combination of different manufacturers.

Ok a bit year and a half late finding this one, but.. still have to say this really looked great. "Most impressed" with the banners. We're they from Warflag by chance?

I can certainly relate!
If I had a buck for every set of great mini's, combined with an interesting period or subject i.e. LoTR, that I was dying to 'grab', I'd be rich.

As it is, I have to talk myself out of grabbing all of those 'great minis' or else I'd be dirt poor. LOL

Thanks, I have fond memories of this game.

I'll reply on behalf of Tom. James and I painted our banners by hand.
