Much to do as always! I have finally prioritized:

By Fire & Sword (15mm)
Finish miscellaneous units for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth
Terrain and Special Figures
Polish Peasant Skirmish Force
Start my Transylvanians and get them ready for Cold Wars

Blucher
Finish Blue Moon 15mm French Army.

Irregular Wars 2 (15mm)
Finish off Lurkio Mapuche
Start Grumpy Colonial Portuguese

Form On The Admiral's Wake
Working towards finishing 1:2400 fleets for the Battle of the Nile

After I finish my review of Land Of The Free, I am sure I will want to collect and paint 28mm AWI/FIW to play it.

Everything else around the house waits!

From the Dec. 31, 2014 entry:

No new projects.

Finishing up, completing, and organizing the following:

1) complete Ancient German army
2) complete both ACW armies
3) complete Late Roman army
4) organize last units of Sassanid army and send to painter
5) expand small Samurai army into 2 large Samurai armies and organize. Painting considerations to follow. Do I really want to paint 200 Samurai and Ashigaru?
6) complete WW2 Early war French

All are 28mm

Ok 1),2),3),4) and 6) are almost complete.

5) I am still assembling and will go to the painters in the Fall (maybe late Fall. I've added more Samurai and I can't face painting them).

then new projects:

7) French and Indian Wars, or how we like to call it north of the 49th, normal Canadian history.

8) Start Swedish 40yrs War army.

9) Do Irish Saga force that I just bought at Historicon (Hey….shiny!)

Whew!

TheKing3031 Jul 2015 2:36 p.m. PST

Ok –

Painting ACW (28mm) for a large Black Power Game with The Usual Suspects. So far I'm on track.

Still plugging away although it seems that I'm on track.

Painting British for Muskets and Tomahawks. SO far almost nothing.

Still nothing here. I doubt I'll do anything with this until next year.

Maybe doing something for 40K (very slight chance). Maybe a unit or two of Necrons?

Very slowly chugging away at this.

Saga – nothing completed. That's a crushing blow. Darn!!

Got some Carolingians on the painting table.

Bolt Action – nothing on that front as well.

Nothing there BUT I can easily see myself getting back into this era late in the year or early next year. The Bolt Action tournaments seem like allot of fun.

Finish up a few units to complete my 1806 Prussian Army. Then a late year weekend carnage & glory game of Auerstadt with my "gang". Jena has gone well twice, so it will be nice to see if this scenario will run well…………..I am thinking of using a turn victory point system for terrain features to force the Prussians to attack, and for the French to defend and attack when appropriate.

I'm joining the 2015 "List what you are doing" wars a little late. I've been busy running SAGA events at most of the Cons in The Mid-Atlantic States and I am opening up Game Cafe here in Central PA. We should be up and operating in about 3 months. You will have to try and visit some time while attending one of the Lancaster, PA cons. Here is the link to the Facebook page. Please like it.

I am refining my homegrown 54mm rules.

47Ronin08 Aug 2015 11:18 a.m. PST

I'm impressed that others have kept this topic alive.

My thanks to all those who have contributed. I like to think that we help to inspire each other.

Carry on and keep up with the reports.

Bowman09 Aug 2015 8:14 a.m. PST

My thanks to all those who have contributed. I like to think that we help to inspire each other.

It guilt trips me into getting off the computer and into the games room to paint. That's a good thing.

Sir Mumsy09 Aug 2015 11:56 a.m. PST

I didn't realize I was suppose to update my progress, but here goes.

Completed so far from my SAGA project wish list that will probably last many years to come.
(1) Anglo-Saxons – 2 points completed
(2) Strathclyde – 1 point completed
(3) Bretons
(4) Norse Gael
(5) Anglo-Danish
(6) Scots
(7) Irish
(8) Milites Christie – 9 points completed
(9) Mutatawaii – 11 points completed
(10) Saracens – 3 1/2 points completed
(11) Crusaders – 2 points completed
(12) Spanish
(13) Moors
(14) Steppes
(15) Byzantine
(16) Carolingian Franks
(17) Pagan Rus
(15) Era of Princes Rus

To switch painting gears a little, I've also completed 48 figures for Wars of the Roses and have 24 more half way painted. In October, I will go back to painting the SAGA factions that I've started for the rest of the year.

Bowman10 Aug 2015 7:19 p.m. PST

Sir Mumsy, I take it you like Saga? wink

Sir Mumsy11 Aug 2015 8:34 a.m. PST

Bowman -- yes. I would like to start a SAGA group in my area so my goal is to provide at least 6 point factions and have at least 8 factions available. For most game systems, I prefer to have enough army to field both sides so I can do solo gaming whenever I want. I am almost reaching a point where I will prefer solo gaming. Enough said.

Bowman13 Aug 2015 6:47 p.m. PST

I hear ya, Sir Mumsy. I love Saga, but I'm not sure it's a good solo game.

Henry Martini14 Aug 2015 4:02 a.m. PST

I don't often get excited about a new release these days, but something about Sam Mustafa's forthcoming Roman extravaganza, Aurelian, has seized hold of my imagination and just won't let go. It will have miniature consequences before the year's out… I just know it.

Russ Lockwood14 Aug 2015 8:35 a.m. PST

Still working through New Year's resolutions…

A. Build woods and hill terrain for my remote, Point-Of-View wargaming experiment.

B. Continue playtesting my Snappy Antiquity rules (has it been really 10 years since I started thinking about it? Egads! Close to reality, now.)

C. Run my remote, Point-Of-View wargaming experiment (that has been in my head for 15 years. Double egads!)

D. Continue working on my Snappy WWI and WWII rules (also in the 10 to 15 year, on-and-off, mode with only a couple playtests)

E. Refine my Snappy Sci-Fi rules … both the overall remote campaign rules and the tactical tabletop rules (the former has gone through a one-year playtest, a four-year playtest, and four more years of tweaking, the latter just a couple playtests over the last several years).

F. Finish the novel! Both of them!

Sum total at a little past the all-star break? A, B, and C are done or on my tabletop being done. C -- The remote POV game -- is proving to be a great conceptual experiment and miserable visual experiment. Got only three turns left…

D&E -- Trying new ideas.
F -- One done! The eighth revision's a charm. The second is only half-way. A third is in the wings. Now to find a literary agent…

1) Finish painting 72 Viking Forge Alexandrian phalangites.

2) Finish painting 62 Heritage 15mm Austrian Hungarian Grenadiers.

3) Break out the old home-grown 15mm Napoleonic rules and revamp the artillery rules to reward shrewd tactical use of guns rather than superior depth perception.

4) Take photos of about 100 1/2400 scale Viking Forge ships and add them to the website to bring the total number of photos on the site to about 1150, but don't hold your breath on this one.

This is a topic for another thread, but I'd be interested in hearing more about this, Russ. Of course, the time you spend on that will distract you from B., D., E., and F.

Russ Lockwood15 Aug 2015 2:59 p.m. PST

I'll post in the Remote Gaming thread…

John Michael Priest16 Aug 2015 10:35 a.m. PST

I would like to work out solid skirmishing and artillery rules for my rules set By the Right Flank. I enjoy tweaking it.

WaltOHara17 Aug 2015 6:13 a.m. PST

For the remainder of the year, I'll probably finish a Raid on Taranto game I'm putting together, probably using Victory at Sea with some modification for the pilots, the torpedos and the level of awareness of the Italian fleet, which are somewhat simple in VAS. Ships are done, working on the Swordfish and I need to make the harbor.

I've had a man to man 54mm Napoleonic game percolating for a long time, the figures are done, I just need to be not lazy about finishing it.

I'm also putting together a Spaceport bar thing and I want to run War Rocket too.

Mute Bystander17 Aug 2015 7:17 a.m. PST

1) Continue to downsize anything over 18mm size (where possible)

2) Play more games with friends

3) Play more THW rules (Solo, co-op, head-to-head)

4) Play more aircraft games

5) Paint more figures/terrain

6) Run some pre-1700 Spanish in North America Games in my pueblo terrain

7) spin up my 3mm, 6mm, and 15/18mm armies construction rate

That should keep my busy and my wallet less active, right? wink

47Ronin27 Dec 2015 11:36 a.m. PST

As the days wind down in 2015, I thought I would return to this topic to see how everyone did with their plans and projects for 2015.

For me, the highlights were playing in and hosting games at Cold Wars, Historicon and Fall In, along with participating in the Waterloo 200th Anniversary Game at West Point sponsored by Carnage and Glory.

Toss in a few games at regional conventions and local clubs and, as Sinatra used to sing, "it was a very good year." In addition, the Painting Department made some nice contributions to my collections, while the Flea Market Division had a record year in reducing the lead pile and giving some unused (but not unloved) figures a new home.

I consider myself very lucky, both in and out of the hobby.

How about you?

Best wishes for 2016.

Ottoathome27 Dec 2015 12:06 p.m. PST

I made it to retirement and survived. That's the #1 achievement for 2015.

Kept "The Weekend Convention" going for another year.

Got out two years of "Saxe N' Violets."

Got 12 regiments of troops painted (and added about 15 tot he unpainted pile.

Finished 22 sections of terrain.
