I am looking for Wargame accessory of… spear or spear heads for 15mm figures and was wondering what USA sources carry such. My local shops could not support nor had good direction. My last ones were bought at Historicon and I do not have the information any longer of who I had purchased them from. thanks fore the help! MG |

I make pikes for my 15mm ECW army with mechanics wire (I've heard it called stove pipe wire as well) you can buy it at many DIY stores.Once you straighten the wire (roll the wire between to flat hard surfaces) you can file 3 sides of the top to a dull point and voila! Spear with spear head. A friend of mine uses brass wire bought from a model railway store, same idea as the mechanics wire but is more sturdy. |

Another way to do it with the wire method is to get a small scrap of steel---put the wire tip on the steel---and then give the wire a few taps with a hammer |

The end of brass rod is easily flattened with pliers , and just as easily filed to produce a spear/pike head. I made a two dozen 15mm javelins the other day. Discounting the time it took to cut them to proper length and file the butt ends, I took no more than a minute apiece to finish the heads. |

But to answer your question, Xyston makes two-inch wire spears, and Noble Knight carries them, though they look to be out of stock right now: link You could email them and ask when they could get them. They are always very helpful. |

We do spears, and we sell them to Brigade Games and On Military Matters. These are them: link |

I used to just use vice grips to flatten the tip and it almost always gave the perfect spear point. When I did my massive Successor armies with 48 figures in a pike block I gave up and just painted the tip silver and called it a day. To look at them from a couple feet away you really can't tell the difference. |

For 15mm I use 20/21 swg soft iron 'florist' wire. eg. auction Cut with pliers to the length required with an angled cut. On the back of a vice whack the angled cut once either side to give a rough spear head shape. Using a small craft tool with grindstone attachment to finish off the spear head.[Full safety googles a must here I insist] |

Not what the OP was asking, but FWIW, these are home-made from brass wire, and are more durable than any commercial equivalent I've seen. To facilitate flattening the tip, I heat the tip (only) over my gas stove, to a point where it glows red. This softens the metal at the tip, while leaving the shaft in its original hard state which resists bending.
