Looking for some scenarios, preferably historical, that could be used by a group of players in an afternoon. we played the Tank and Infantry aces campaigns. We just want something different than the standard missions. Thanks ! |

Have you considered the Skirmish Campaign books? Though they are written for smaller scale fights (1tank=1tank, etc) it's not hard to convert them up to accommodate larger formations by using a simple formula like 1tank = a platoon or company and one man equals a platoon or company. |

I once heard that a lot of the Skirmish Campaign material is higher-level stuff boiled down to a skirmish level. Is there any truth to this? If so, what sources are they using for the original scenarios? Has anyone reverse-engineered them to, say, operational level (Command Decision, BK Commander)? |

I have heard that too. We have used them for a number of games with our "Look, Sarge, No Charts: WWII" rules, where one base equals a platoon. Here is an article that co-author Buck Surdu, along with Skirmish Campaign's Scott Fisher, wrote on converting the Skirmish Campaign scenarios To use with LSNC:WWII - PDF link |

"Bathtub Campaigns" I remember Command Decison's "Barbarossa" campaign supplement was 1:25 tank model to real tanks based. In Flames of War you see a lot of this used in scenario design. Check out "Destruction of Panzer Brigade 206" in the version two rule book or take a good close look at some scenarios from the BF web site and Wargames Illustrated. Quite a few of these are much larger level fights boiled down to what looks like a company on the table top. Here are some examples: Early War Battle of Hannut where a real Brigade size force is represented by a FoW company. link Here's one for Normandy. PDF link |

Mark, you have heard correctly. Both the author, Scott Fisher and a number of his group have done adaptations of the SC books to use with Fireball Forward. Each squad in the scenarios becomes a platoon (with each squad being represented by one base) and support weapons and tanks remain pretty much the same. All the books have bibliographies in the front and are pretty darn accurate. |

Nice thing about Skirmish Campaigns is the maps element. You get a nice map adaptable to my tables at least for each scenario. The order of battle is platoon level for the most part…generally with limited armor. The OB is adjustable with extra stuff available on a die roll. Some games we throw everything into the game. |

Without wishing to seem too much like an advertisement, I have written several scenario packs for IABSM for the early war period, all of which are for company-sized games that would suit FOW players. In no particular order, they are: The Defence of Calais (historical/France) Fall of the Lion Gate (historical/Malaya) Bloody Burma (historical/Burma) Vyazma or Bust! (fictional/Eastern Front) Operation Compass (historical/North Africa) These can be bought from toofatlardies.co.uk And you can find details and see sample pages on vislardica.com. Easily convertible. Hope this helps R |

I suggest joining the Panzer Corp yahoo group. In the free scenarios folder is a bunch of stuff of Div level scenarios. These rules are one stand equal a company but a section of the map and TOE can give a great command decision game. It is very generous of the company to put this stuff up. link
I google the area and create a better map.

Anatoli's September campaign comes to mind. It's large in scope but just peel off a couple of them to make it mini. link |
