Minis is my Waterloo Supporting Member of TMP26 Dec 2014 7:26 p.m. PST

Anyone know a source for metal minis for the Battlestar Galactica universe? Small scale, like 1/300 or smaller. I picked up some very nicely painted stuff at Fall In flea market, but I need more. I ordered some of the Ravenstar Tinmen minis, which are Battlestar Galactica universe, but they are resin and not completely compatible with what I have already. Thanks for any advice.

Studio Bergstrom makes a lot of stuff that'll work.

The capital ships are smaller than Ravenstar's though, for the most-part, other than a couple of their mega-ships.

Yeah, SB's BSG capital ships are fine if you just want to worry about BSG, maybe Pegasus and some Basestars, but if you want the rest of the rag-tag fleet, Ravenstar is where it's at.

I have both, eventually Ravenstar will carry the load. SB's fleet scale fighters though are top notch, maybe 1/1200 scale or smaller.

Ravenstar, Bergstrom, Iron Wind Metals (these are a bit larger)

I am seeing a fair number of BSG-like ship on Shapeways, if you don't find what you want elsewhere.

Fox Miniatures has a great selection of resin battlestars and escorts, but they are not on his web site. Contact Jim via e-mail and he will send you a color catalog: fox@foxminiatures.com

Bergstroms nuGalactica is one of their early model and looks like it has been sat on. It looks more like the original Galactica. I was extremely disappointed when I got mine (and it has since sat in a drawer in shame).

The Basestars and fighters are very nice.

If he's rejecting Ravenstar, or at least, discounting the use thereof, first on the basis of resin cast, THEN on the size issue, most of these suggestions are missing the point.

Chris' stuff is beautiful; one is hard pressed to find better, or more varied.

I agree most of Drew's early stuff needs replacing, and I've a fair amount of it, but for size and cast-in-metal, Studio Bergstrom is about it, methinks.

Please DO correct me if I err.

Doug

Edit: And, I think you may need at least another zero behind the '1/300', if I read you right. ;->=

some of those links didnt copy correctly. just down load the BSG PDF from the skunkworks site (last link) and try it that way. The list is on the first few pages

Chris took over the Hangar18FASA designs, and they were all resin as far as I know.

Ninja Magic has been regrouping for some time; Rattlehead Games was acting as distributor, but has closed that part of the site. If ships are being produced, SOMEBODY TELL ME!

Will be listening for other news as well.

Thanks!

Doug

Fox does make some very nice stuff.

The Battlestars (and other names) are available from another supplier as well, but not the Cylon ships. Sorry, can't recall the name of the retailer right now, but they are up north. May be Canadian, but can't recall for sure.

They sell lots of other minis too.

The capital ships are expensive, at $20 USD – $30 USD a pop, but they are large, with stunning detail.

The Fox-sculpted vessels are some of the best out there, if not THE best.

Thanks all for the great leads. Just browsing the links, it looks like Studio Bergstrom might be what I'm looking for in the fighters. The Ravenstar big ships were good, and the old-style Cylon fighters were decent, but the Vipers are smaller than the metal ones I have. Who is the "Chris" you all refer to? I'd like to check out his stuff too. And yes…probably more like 1/3000 than 1/300…haha!
Thanks again!

Mako1127 Dec 2014 6:57 p.m. PST

The Bergstrom 1" fighters are very nice.

Don't own any of the Fleet scale ones.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP27 Dec 2014 8:36 p.m. PST

Sorry, it was clear from context in MY mind… ;->=

Chris = Ravenstar

Ravenstar28 Dec 2014 10:49 p.m. PST

Berstroms fighters are great and well worth the purchase.

Minis is my Waterloo Supporting Member of TMP31 Dec 2014 7:28 a.m. PST

Thanks to everyone for their input. I'm starting to think the metal fighters I picked up at the flea market are not in production anymore, because none of the pix of the major suppliers resemble them.

Having said that, I do want to make sure my initial post didn't come off like a condemnation of Ravenstar's stuff. Their service was awesome…got my stuff within days of placing the order, during the worst holiday shipping time of the year! There's nothing wrong with the ships; I just was hoping to find the exact mfg of the ones I already have, which doesn't look like it's going to happen. Sooooo, honestly, I think I'll be going to Ravenstar for more fighters.

Goshawk02 Jan 2015 3:33 p.m. PST

Glad I found this conversation. The Ravenstsar models look great and I suspect I'll be ordering a few before long.

Daricles02 Jan 2015 9:53 p.m. PST

I have ordered from Ravenstar a few times and have always been pleased with the quality of the service and the miniatures.

Mako1103 Jan 2015 3:27 a.m. PST

That is possible about the minis.

Though, if you post pics of them, and then inquire, you might find one or more people that may be willing to sell you some of their minis, they no longer need/want.

BThree03 Jan 2015 2:28 p.m. PST

I have FA and 1/350 (1") scale Viper Mk2 and Raptor miniatures available on my website B-3designs.com if you are looking for photos to compare your mystery minis with, these might be the ones, who knows. I appreciate the compliment you posted about Fox miniatures ships Mako11, they were (in my opinion) some of my best ship sculptures so far and were based on excellent art found on the wolfs shipyard website.

TheBeast Supporting Member of TMP04 Jan 2015 8:43 a.m. PST

Sorry, B3, along with all the others I've missed.

It's a GREAT time to push small toy spaceships across the table, no?

Doug

Daricles04 Jan 2015 9:50 a.m. PST

I just listed a lot of 16 hand painted BSG miniatures on eBay containing 8 Viper MkII, 4 Viper MkVII and 4 Raptor miniatures.

If they sell at a price that is economically feasible (i.e. I don't lose money) I may sell more.

Minis is my Waterloo Supporting Member of TMP08 Jan 2015 11:46 a.m. PST

B3, I'm going to try putting a link here of a pic of the three fighter types. Not a fancy picture, but I was just trying to give you an idea of what they look like. They are metal, and the vipers are approximately 13mm long.

I bought all of the Hanger 18 masters and molds from Robert Tovar, I'm not satified yet with the remolding I have been doing and will be casting these once remolded and tweeking is done on my web site. I am the Canadian supplier that was mentioned. Starfightershipyards.com I sell Ravenstars, Bergstroms and Foxes products (little higher price then the original supplier as I need to make a small profit somehow on these) as well. I Also have developed a line of fighters that B3 designs sculped for me.The fighters are as large as Foxes and very highly detailed, these are available for 75 cents each and I am using JupiterIV decals to make decals for these fighters.

I am working on the option of Resin or pewter Metal (which is very expensive in Canada I need a US supplier for it if anyone can help me out there) for all of my castings.
