"It was like they knew we were coming," Craig said once he had caught his breath.

"It was Frank's fault," Terry responded, "He is always going off half cocked."

Craig gave the scout a black look before turning back to the captain.

"When we got into their tunnels Kayla, sorry Lt. Moore, took Sam with her, Tom had moved ahead on his own and without orders Frank took off too. Terry and I moved up together in case they had any heavy armor," Craig reported.

Captain Everheart regarded the tankhunter. Things must have gone badly in the tunnels. Tunnel fighting was exceptionally distressing for soldiers anyway, his troops were usually more up for it than most of the opponents they faced and he had sent some of his best in. Still the tankhunter regiment was more reliable than almost anyone in the American army and Craig was an unusually reliable soldier even in that group.

To see him and the scout bolting out, alone, after sending six men in, Everheart could only think that they must have faced some serious opposition.

"Why was there such a problem? What did you face down there? Did they have a specialized TAG in the tunnels that we don't know about?" the captain quizzed.

Frank moving off

"Nothing like that sir. The first shot I heard came from a head of us in the direction Frank ran. It must have hit him because I heard him curse. Then I heard fire from what must have been a multirifle and a short reply from one of our rifles and heard Frank's voice utter his last curse that went into a scream."

"After that things fell apart so quickly. We heard fire from the direction Kayla and Sam had moved off. It was difficult to make out but there was at least a short burst from Sam's HMG. Sam yelled out over the coms that Kayla was down, then another burst of fire and Sam wasn't responding anymore either."

"We heard Tommy whisper that he was going for the computers and rifle fire from far ahead then his coms went off line too."

We heard the footsteps of heavy armor moving towards us and Terry saw one of those sneaky Aboriginals moving towards us trying to cut us off. We were no where near the terminals so we decided to leave. We were the only two left."

The river bank was no place to hand out judgment and a patrol had just flown over head, so Captain Everheart just nodded.

"Terry, find us a way out of here that doesn't get anyone else killed. I'll expect a more full report when we go through the details on your coms regarding timing."

This game was a washout. The Ariadne forces had six models, two Tankhunters, one of them with an HMG, an SAS guy with a rifle, a Kazack with a hacking device, a scout with an opojactic (sp?) and an Irmadino.

Four of the six of them had camo and started the game off with it on.

The SAS guy also had infiltrate and started at about the half way point on the board.

None of that did them any good.

Their mission was to get to the computer terminals and either hack into them or, failing that, destroy them. Most of the guys could just shoot them but the hacker could obviously hack them and some of the troops had demo charges.

The Pan Oceana force started with a Croc man with TO camo in hidden deployment. They also had 6 fusiliers, including an HMG armed one and a paramedic one. In addition to that they had an ORC trooper.

The Croc man shot at the Irmadino who was hit but survived, diving for cover. The ORC trooper then moved up and took him out. No surprise there.

What was surprising was that one Fusilier went and attacked the hacker and one of the tank hunters (the one with the HMG) and took them both out. He took the tankhunter out in the Ariadne turn with an ARO.

That same fusilier then went and took out the SAS guy who was shooting up the computer banks.

Some of it was bad luck, both the SAS guy and the tankhunter fell to crits, although the SAS guy was hit one other time as well so even if the crit hadn't been a crit he was likely to have failed one roll or the other.

The Pan Oceana force didn't lose a single model when the Ariadne force broke.

Orders were about even on each side with the Ariadne force having 6 regular orders plus 2 for the Irmadino.

The Pan oceana force had 9.
