Last Monday we fought all three days of Gettysburg in under three and a half hours. Of course, Gettysburg is "hallowed ground", there are plenty of scenarios out there already, and I am sure there are many people more knowledgeable about it than me – and that's just on this forum. Even so, the game was such a blast that I have posted all three pages of the scenario in case anyone else wants to try it or even just to have a look.

I have run this game a few times, so I think it is pretty sound, but it is still only a draft. I'd welcome feedback, both on the scenario structure as a game, and on historical accuracy (terrain depiction, relative unit ratings etc).

While I'm at it, I've also posted my Shiloh scenario in the same Flickr photostream. Again, this has been played a few times and is a sound game but is still a draft in need of further polishing.

I hope some of you will find these scenarios interesting and maybe even useful. Constructive criticism would be very welcome.

Respectfully,

That looks good. I do not have a yahoo account so I can not see your blog. What rules did you design these for?

Matthew, I'm glad you like the look of the scenarios. These are for "Bloody Big BATTLES!" (BBB). See the original TMP announcement thread here:

and discussion on various other TMP threads since.

BBB is published by SkirmishCampaigns, available in the US from Brigade Games or On Military Matters, and in the UK from Caliver Books or Irregular Miniatures.

You haven't played Gettysburg until you do it at 1:20 scale with regiments. We did Gettysburg using JR2. Took two weekends. It looked fantastic and was soooooo much fun.

RallyNow, you're not ambitious enough. Surely you haven't done Gettysburg unless you've done it at 1:1 scale with 170,000 other players, half of whom are trying to kill you?

I'm sure a game on your scale is a rich and memorable experience. But other approaches are also valid. A good friend of mine – a serious student of military history – said that after playing my scenario he "finally got Gettysburg".
