"If you're a major world power, a megalomaniacal trillionaire with a private navy or some seagoing alien race, the best years to invade the United States will be 2015 and 2028. Because those are the years the U.S. Navy—the main protector of America's sovereignty—will be weakest, according to the sailing branch's latest fleet plan. Today the Navy has 288 combat vessels—by far the biggest and most powerful naval force in the world. But with China and Russia both improving their own navies, Washington wants to grow the fleet to an average of 306 warships through the 2040s … by building more vessels and keeping existing ships longer…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

A ground invasion would be a very costly endeavour … not to mention the US military, but with all the guns in civilain hands, it would be open season on the invaders. With no limits on how many you can bag … And we all know if the enemy parked any tanks, APCs etc., in New York, Jersey, Philly etc. … The next morning they'd all be up on blocks with all their radios gone … |

If anyone invades us it would only increase our gun collections and Monster Truck variants. Red Dawn would turn into Red Squash. I mean, if everyone here decided to shoot in ONE direction… |

Oh-no, the sky is falling. During that time frame the US Navy will only overmatch the rest of the worlds Navies (the best of which belong to U.S. allies) combined by 2.5 to 1, as opposed to the normal 3:1 superiority we are accustomed to. O.K., I admit that I totally made up those numbers, but I doubt I'm that far off. |

Well, I hear that there are a lot of Canadian "snowbirds" in FL, and that they're also buying real estate in our south-western climes, but don't have any firsthand knowledge of that. However, I was referring to the 10 – 30 million person stealth invasion that's occurred over the Southern border, with little more than the occasional news blurb. That makes WWII's 100,000+ man D-Day invasion seem like a poorly attended beach party, by comparison. |

Hmmm…better go on Kickstarter to fund the invasion. |

"Die rolling" should be on the TMP coat of arms. It has several meanings, all appropriate to the group. And I'm a *huge* Buffalo Springfield fan, go figure. |

Here's the interesting thing to the backstory of that song: 'Contrary to popular belief, "For What It's Worth" wasn't written as a reflection on any of the historic Vietnam War protests or Civil Rights marches of the era. Stills actually wrote the song—in only fifteen minutes, he claims—about the "Sunset Strip Riots" that were a reaction to the closing of a popular LA nightspot, Pandora's Box, and to the curfews imposed on the area to deter young people from loitering outside of clubs and bars. The LAPD had tried to enforce the curfew laws by shutting down a handful of hangouts frequented by teens and people in their early twenties, so a local radio station called for a rally to protest. About a thousand young people showed up and milled about at the corner of Sunset and Crescent Heights until fighting broke out. Some blamed a car of off-duty marines for inciting the violence after they became involved in a car accident, but whatever the spark, kids were soon smashing windows and rocking cars. |

Thanks for that, specforc12. |

JPattern2 gave me a perfect setup, I could not resist. Though I thought the best use of that song was in Forrest Gump when it was background music for a foot patrol in Vietnam. |
specforc12 | 30 Dec 2014 12:15 a.m. PST |
To me it will always have the essence of the darkness of the War, the Protests, the tumult of the times all in the wake of JFK's assisination and the lost innocence of America thenceforth. I always am moved by the mood, the musicallity, and the words, which of course was a symbol of the times – a world in chaos! |
jpattern2 | 30 Dec 2014 8:12 a.m. PST |
Agreed, Lion and specforc12. The instrumentation is haunting, and the lyrics really grab me from the very first lines: "There's somethin' happenin' here. What it is ain't exactly clear." For me, the song perfectly evokes confusion and anger and polarization, as well as the often ineffective efforts of "us" against "them," regardless of who "we" and "they" are, at any given time from the '60s up to today. |
