Excuse my ignorance, but what are the "golf bags" the rear rank are carrying? Arrow cases or something else? |

Yes, they do look like golf bags, but are in fact holding arrows! Front Rank also makes some longbow quivers (and crossbow quivers) as separate accessories. Since only marching archers would be carrying them, you don't see them very often. Perrys did a nice job of sculpting their retinue archers in these interesting poses and giving some of them arrow quivers. A nice change from the usual firing line poses. |

Ah, I see now a nice touch. You could always sculpt a couple of nine iron heads to poke out of one! Nice figures and nice blog, cheers. |

"…giving some of them arrow quivers…" I thought that English longbowmen didn't use quivers (apart from Robin Hood of course…)??? |

Yes they used drivers or.more specifically arrow bag/drivers. Another way in battle was idea.special knot in a belt. Other option lay them on the floor. The sticking if the arrows.in the ground. While beloved as an idea is show in only one or two.images arrow bags are shown at the wait in battle. And Perry's new HYW spouse have them. I co authored a paper on the carriage of arrows from Hastings to the Mary Rose. Best |
