I need some help finding maps for the Eastern Front. I am looking for something that will really show what the terrain was like for the battles. I am primarily interested in the early part of the war but for now will accept whatever I can find.

Thanks.

I think the obvious solution is to find WW2 maps of the area – things didn't really change all that much, terrain-wise.

There's also this old book put out between the wars that describes a number of regimental/battalion level engagements in WW1, with maps. Most are Western Front, but there's some stuff from Russia. It's really a great source of scenarios.

Go to your local university library's map room. You can sift through maps – some are actually WWII period maps, or earlier. I have maps of Latvia from the 20s. Problem with university library copiers is that you won't get the whole thing on one sheet. You can copy the map info and then write to the Library of Congress (do a little tracking down of proper department, cost, etc. on line first) and get a full sheet copy of the map. That's what I've done several times. By the way, I guess I wasn't clear – I'm talking 1:50,000 or better topographic maps here.
