Get a list of regimental names e.g. Bavarian or Austrian. Mix and match the elements. Polish and Czech beer brand names might also be of use. Good fun all round! |

Is Saxe Oldburg an Imagi-Nation? If so let me know I've got over 100 I use in my own Imaginations. Ill send you the unit names too. Be advised all of them are horrible puns or humorous names. Kind of Like Peter Young and his Steinzeit regiment. If you want realistic names try the Berlin phone book. |

JCFrog and Oschmidt have good suggestions. Another one is to look up championship soccer (or whatever sport the relevant nation plays) teams -- the internet is a wealth of such data. |

OSchmidt – I was hoping to use Saxe-Oldburg as a nation. I hope I am not treading on anyone's toes. Your officer and unit names would be a great help also. Thanks to everyone else for their suggestions. |

Dear Bomb Alley Send me your snail-mail to sigurd@eclipse.net and I'll send them off to you in a few days. To spur you on here are a few. Prince of Saxe-Burlap Prince of Schleswig Beerstein General von Hesse-Hydrox General von Hesse-Herbox General Katzenjammer General Alt-MacDonald General Jung- MacDonald General von Knyppentuck Prince of Zweibak Prince of Hesse Hyjnx Prine of Saxe-Hillbilliehausen That should give you a start. |

Oh yeah, if you want I'll send you the ones I made up for my French and British style Imagi-Nations and I'll try and write down the ones I have for my Italianate state, the Grand Duchy of the Grand Duke of Gorgonzola. What scale are your figures in? If they're 25-28mm I'll send you the colors and standards I made up for them too. For example the color for the AltMacdonald Regiment has roundels on which are shown what he had on his farm, and refers to the marching song of the Regiment. The Jung MacDonald Regiment also refers to it's marching song and is a field of 100 bottles on a shelf. |

Dear Frederick Yes I can see how you brewed them up. They flow from a common source. Don't get all hopped up about. |
OSchmidt | 18 Dec 2014 12:13 p.m. PST |
Dear Frederick I'm glad you could tap into that source. |

You could try the Fantasy Name Generator to get random German names, then add a title and perhaps a "von" to make it more officer-like. - Ix |

I've been reading a lot about Frederick the Great, and I was wondering which place-names were German and which were not, so I looked up some of the suffixes, like -itz, -au, and -dorf. Pretty interesting (German toponymy): link |
