War of the Ring ?

Another vote for SPI War of the Ring, but it is very old now.

The trouble with WOTR games, as far as I see it, is in the hiding of the Fellowship. How to keep the tension of the hunt up, after all won't the Mordor player know what is coming and just fortify themselves?

There is also the new one but the SPI one may be cheaper lol.

Kropotkin, I've played it once and for both Good and Evil there are multiple strategies. You can focus on the ring or focus on stomping the armies of the enemy. Or a little of both. It's a complex game. And I could see replays being different.

There's the old SPI War of the Ring (neat game, actually my very first introduction to LOTR!), and then there's the new Ares Games War of the Ring, and they just recently released Battle of the Five Armies IIRC.

I have this one and it's REALLY quite good. Does a decent job of balancing the different aspects of the conflict and has high replayability.

Have not played this one but heard plenty of good things about it.

There's plenty of others but these ones focus on the military aspects of the setting.
