The year 2014 is almost over. What are your plans regarding spending cash on our hobby in 2015? If you choose either (a) or (b), what are you interested in purchasing?

(a) I'm planning on increasing purchases for 2015.
(b) I'll probably spend about the same amount as 2014.
(c) I will not spend much if anything at all in 2015.

Rich Bliss15 Dec 2014 8:00 p.m. PST

It's looking like A.

Mako1115 Dec 2014 8:03 p.m. PST

C. Plummeting like the Russian ruble, from a very low level (dare I say, non-existent), already, until I find a job.

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP15 Dec 2014 8:14 p.m. PST

With those choices it would be (b)which equates to (c)

ordinarybass15 Dec 2014 8:38 p.m. PST

B, probably, a bit less. I had a few projects in mind for 2015, but managed to get much of what I needed for them during the holiday madness.

A or so

CLDecker15 Dec 2014 8:48 p.m. PST

C, please let it be so.

To be realistic? More than I should.

Cyrus the Great15 Dec 2014 9:09 p.m. PST

B

McWong7315 Dec 2014 9:20 p.m. PST

A, no question. 2014 was a lean year for me.

Garand15 Dec 2014 9:43 p.m. PST

Probably B. I've had to cut back on stuff, looks like that will continue. FREX, no longer making major Warhammer purchases a month now that I have just about all I can handle. So the projects I'm pursuing in 2015 is to continue expaning my WWII gaming collection, as well as finalizing my "big" project of doing ALL of the Roman Armies from 500bc to 476ad in 15mm for DBA. I'd be further along than I am now (have Marians completed, collecting Repubs), if I wasn't also doing opponents (Gauls and Carthaginians so far…).

Damon.

Charlie 1215 Dec 2014 9:57 p.m. PST

B (which is actually C). Work is shaky and so are my finances… (Mako- Good hunting! I know that feeling too well…)

53Punisher15 Dec 2014 10:08 p.m. PST

A.

Grelber15 Dec 2014 10:37 p.m. PST

B, though I'd like it to be A, and just maybe it will be if things work well.
I'm four years out from retirement, and I am trying to finish up a lot of odd things-just a few more Vikings, a couple more groups for them to fight, some Celts and Romans, colonials, and so on. The idea being that I can cut things down to the point where I will only be working on one or two armies when I retire, and my income drops.

C. Not so much from lack of money but that my hands don't work well any more so painting and prep is slow (I haven't painted 2014 purchases yet).

The Beast Rampant15 Dec 2014 10:44 p.m. PST

Probably B, by a bit.

My #1 new year's resolution is to finally get my mess organized, and sell off a ton (probably literally) of stuff that, cool as it may be (to me at least!), I truly have no time for.

I'm sure some of that money will go right back into minis; but I like to think I am being more conscientious about spending on projects I will complete in the next thirty years.

wrgmr115 Dec 2014 11:17 p.m. PST

C. Bought a while lot of figures this year, Calpe Prussians and Front Rank WOR. I'll paint what I have.

Of course there is always the Ohhh shiny syndrome.

B trending to A.

basileus6615 Dec 2014 11:42 p.m. PST

Probably, C. College tuitions for my kids are looming in the horizon and I need to save as much as I can.

Martin Rapier16 Dec 2014 12:08 a.m. PST

I never spend much on wargaming these days, just filling in the gaps, so B.

artaxerxes16 Dec 2014 12:22 a.m. PST

Steady state, or a bit of a dip because I have TUBS of figures waiting impatiently in line to be painted, based and deployed. And nowhere near the time to do justice to what I have.

steamingdave4716 Dec 2014 12:46 a.m. PST

Likely to be C, as I try to work through the 600 or so figures still to be painted and the dozen or so kits to be built.

Mick in Switzerland16 Dec 2014 3:42 a.m. PST

Why is there no option for d) I will spend but it will be less than 2014.

I will spend less as I have quite a pile of stuff to do. I bought into Reaper Bones 2 Kickstarter and Spectre Kickstarter and just ordered Perry Agincourt English and Peasants. I also have some other Perry WOTR Foot Knights and infantry. Therefore, I have 400 figures that I have paid for but not yet started / received plus my existing lead pile. That is a year's worth.

I am planning to buy some of the new Empress Modern British and Russians. I will also buy the Perry WOTR light cavalry when they come out.
Other than that, not much.

razuse16 Dec 2014 3:50 a.m. PST

certainly A, spent very little in 2013 and 2014. 2015, will finish off several project and of course start new ones…looking forward to collecting again!

Maxamillion275816 Dec 2014 4:58 a.m. PST

overspent in 2014 have made a c promise

MWright16 Dec 2014 5:06 a.m. PST

B-C I really need to finish some projects. Maybe no new stuff (lol), mainly purchases to finish existing.

B.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP16 Dec 2014 5:25 a.m. PST

Probably less as I want to get some of my projects further along and buying new minis will certainly not help that!

mad mac16 Dec 2014 5:45 a.m. PST

Probably C – and dig out some of those items I purchased in previous years but didn't do anything with.

GatorDave Supporting Member of TMP16 Dec 2014 5:49 a.m. PST

B. Unless I can get myself to paint faster there is no need to spend more.

Coelacanth16 Dec 2014 6:06 a.m. PST

A. I had spent next to nothing in 2014, so a modest rise would not be out of order.

B to C

Only new projects are going to be a a collection of 10mm units for 19th century wars, and the forces for the Altar of Freedom scenario for the Battle of Gaines Mill, agian 10mm.

mad monkey 116 Dec 2014 8:23 a.m. PST

B. At least that's the plan. Might be more like C. : (

witteridderludo16 Dec 2014 8:25 a.m. PST

b+ or a-

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP16 Dec 2014 10:02 a.m. PST

B – I will continue to expand my 40mm AWI, ACW & Medieval armies as new figures for these ranges come out. But, however, ah, well, maybe this new 40mm FIW range might rise up and bite me!

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP16 Dec 2014 1:00 p.m. PST

B or C, I have too much already & I'm not getting a raise again for the third year but my benefits went up.

Texas Jack16 Dec 2014 1:08 p.m. PST

C, but it all depends on how well I master green stuff. Ok, so B.

David Manley16 Dec 2014 2:36 p.m. PST

C – most of my wargaming dosh will be going on hay and vets fees for Laura's burgeoning herd of ponies!

kallman16 Dec 2014 2:45 p.m. PST

C for me as I already have been paring down the collection and simply do not have the time to actively participate at the level I would like to at the moment. I am going to work steadily as time allows to paint what I already have. Any purchases will be for supplies and perhaps terrain, which again, I do not have time to build.

waaslandwarrior16 Dec 2014 3:15 p.m. PST

B, tending to A, hoping for C…

I seem to buy too much figures each year. At least more than I paint…

A if I find something really shiny that grabs my interest

Weasel16 Dec 2014 6:14 p.m. PST

I'm mostly stocked up on things I want but there'll be little bits here and there. My spending is usually 15-30 bucks every other month or so.

Personal logo DWilliams Supporting Member of TMP17 Dec 2014 1:26 p.m. PST

I usually begin each year thinking I'm in the "B" category … and then something catches my eye I move into the "A" category
