These are amazing. Always impressed by the research that goes into his work, even recreating the individual characters.

The colours? Maybe the wrong way round if in line, as conceded on the website. But this is a square. A few seconds ago, the ensigns were facing the other way, but the colonel called them in closer to him….so they turned around and are now walking this way!

The photography is brilliant. There is a realistic haze and correct depth of focus. In the above picture the distant lighting, almost a glare, is so effective. Take this last photo again, but from an even lower angle. The bases will disappear (as will many of the figures of course) but the result will be better than "the" film of 1970! (esp if also done in B&W or sepia)

Liked your reference to the Forth Bridge and its perpetual myth of being painted from one end to the other and then starting all over again from the original starting point.

Nowadays that is a fallacy as modern paint technology has put an end to that.
