Looks brilliant Leon! That shark's mouth reminds me of one I saw on a Vietnam picture of an LVT5P(E). Love it! |

It definitely puts the model in a different light and is more eye catching than a primed or raw model. |

Ta for all the comments but as usual less about skillful painting and more to do with a model that takes the paint well. Its an easy one to paint well as its got all sorts of nice panels and bits that shade themselves with some easy point washes. Now all I have to do is the figures and do the Venturian ones………….so much paint to splash around on nice things and so little time. L ps Legion 4 everything I paint in Sci fi ends up in some variation of German Ambush scheme lol Think its become a fetish! |

Looking at the picture again and again the model looks great and the paint job is wonderful, the back ground reminds me of shallow water off the coast of some place, which is really cool! With it all tied in together it looks like some future sub on the hunt with a rotating mini torpedo launcher and the back door hatch is used to deploy combat divers! Which reminds me, is there any rules for underwater combat? |

everything I paint in Sci fi ends up in some variation of German Ambush scheme lol Think its become a fetish! "Talents create, geniuses steal!" Try using the pattern, but changing the colors dramatically and see what shakes loose, like brighter greens and mauve for the Ventauran machines…

ps Legion 4 everything I paint in Sci fi ends up in some variation of German Ambush scheme lol Think its become a fetish! Well not everything … Been thinking about getting some of those nice 6mm K'hiff and painting them in a nice Panzer Gray and LW Blue scheme … |

Leon, I have the same fetish, but am having to change up the colors for sci-fi. …which means I have to build new terrain to match too…sigh… |
LeonAdler | 15 Dec 2014 11:53 a.m. PST |
Darby, Nah just invest in a whole bunch of bags of flock and then you can 'dust' any old green boards to match anything you want. Cordless hoover is all you need to recycle most of it. L |

Leon, I have the same fetish, but am having to change up the colors for sci-fi. …which means I have to build new terrain to match too…sigh… Many, many years ago when Leon and I were running seperate games at the Salute show, Leon was running a superb 15mm Dr Who based game (he may recall) that I still talk about (first time I'd seen lighting effects on a game) and I think it was around the same year I did my 6mm SF game with the purple cloth and scenery – purple ground dry brushed in bright blue. It seems like a really good idea to do unusual coloured terrain and/or vehicles to match but it does, ahem, limit one somewhat!

John, Its seriously scary to think how long ago that game was lol Still have some of it in the loft I think. Kevin did an amazing job with the electrics when coloured diodes were brand spanking new, just think what could be done with all the low power LEDS etc these days. I remember the purple! :) Looked decidely alien and brill. L |

Now I am feeling old. Sadly, Von, it's unversaly all sliding down hill :( I've been laid up for the last five days with a flu that – ten years ago – I would have shaken off in half of that time. "Time is the fire in which we burn" John (cough, wheeze) Treadaway |

Limiting indeed. A few months ago I started some purple based boards, and it's a pain to match across tiles. Thinking a painted matt may be the way to go. But back to Leon's painting… as I'm using different colors I was trying to stay away form a known scheme, like Ambush. BUt the more I think about it and how I want the terrain to be (sort of backwards me thinks) Ambush may be the way to go for one faction. Say, what did you use for defining the recesses? A thin wash? |
LeonAdler | 16 Dec 2014 8:59 a.m. PST |
Hello Darby, Matching and contrasting coloured flocks brushed across the seams to break up the straight lines works a treat. Always think it odd seeing really nice tile based games at conventions with all the joins showing, looks much better if they flocked out to my eyes. Paint job same as here: TMP link L |

Leon Wheezing my way back to the paint job, you referenced the work you did elsewhere on the Panther. Did you use the same Humbrol washes on this model? If so, what did you think of them? (and – I guess – if not, why not!) John T |
LeonAdler | 17 Dec 2014 7:40 a.m. PST |
Hi John, Like them a lot :) Nice range of colours and easily dilutable. Using them on some 15mm sci fi at the moment. L |

Probably hunting for these Leon?
