I've taken a picture of a number of different 15mm dwarves for scaling purposes: link
From left to right: Copplestone, Chariot [human], Grenadier, Essex [human], ERM, Peter Pig, Chariot, Chariot [halfling] I've still not succeeded in getting any figures that scale well with the Chariot dwarves. |

You might check the Pendraken 10mm dwarves and see if they would fit with the chariot ones. I need to measure them but the heft of them would go well with the chariot figures I think. I use my chariot dwarves as gnomes since they are as you say smaller than other manufacturers. David splinteredlightminis.com |

I'll put mine in with the mix also because I have a couple that you don't. Thanks for posting these because I have wondered about Copplestone Dwarves.
Blood Dawn, Splintered Light – Splintered Land, Black Raven Foundry, (I think the next is Irregular, but can't remember for sure), then Splintered Light newer dwarves, Mighty Armies, Tabletop Fantasy, Chariot Miniatures. More on my blog… link |

Thanks, Landorl, I found your blog the other day; I might have linked to it if I hadn't been racing to post before TMP closed for maintainance! I forgot I had some Blood Dawn figures and some Irregular ones. I fished them out for the previous post I did on dwarves. I also have a Eureka one, which is very big. The Chariot dwarves as gnomes might be a good way to go, Dave. Are the Pendraken dwarves you're talking about the ones that are now classed as 15mm and being sold by Minibits? TMP link I thought about using 10mm dwarves, but didn't want them to be smaller than my halflings. How do the SL dwarves, the Wiff Waff ones, scale against Essex humans? They'd be a good range for me to go with. |

Our Dwarves are a little over 10mm to the top of the head and quite chunky, so work nicely with 15mm. You'd probably need to stick with the regular Dwarf's, the Hill Dwarf range are slighter in style so wouldn't look as good next to the other 15mm's. |

Mark, The Essex humans tend to be roughly the same size as my historicals so roughly 16-17mm. My Wiff Waff dwarves are properly dwarfy next to my humans so I am guessing will work well as dwarves with Essex humans. I was actually thinking about the Pendraken hill dwarves and will check them with my chariot dwarves this weekend. I am guessing that the Pendraken expert is correct, however! Thanks. The Hill Dwarves have fairly small heads, and that's a feature of the Chariot figures compared to the ERM ones. I reckon they would look OK. Looking at stumpies.com, I reckon the Peter Pig figures might mix with the Chariot ones; I'll paint my Peter Pig artillery and see how they look next to some Chariot figures. I am tempted by the SL warbands on special too, but will try to reduce my lead pile first! |

I've updated this comparison with some Splintered Light figures, as well as Blood Dawn and Black Raven:

Though i have gone back and forth between 15mm dwarves, the best Dwarves hands down in my opinion are the Demonworld Ral Parth Europe ones. They mix well with almost every range size wise and have finer detail than some 28mm dwarves. Their range is very (Very!) extensive that can accommodate both the LotR types (Clan Veterans, Clan Warriors, Skirmishers, and Guard of the Gate sculpts all work great lotR dwarves) and many more sculpts that work for the warhammery style. Aside from that, price wise the are also excellent. 19$ for 32 figs, or $22 USD for 40 figs is fantastic, espeically considering the very high quality of the figures. FASA (USA) has the entire Demonworld Range Here: link I have an Empire and Orc for my Hail Caesar Fantasy game, both of which are largely Demonworld mixed with Legio Heroica and some Splintered light (Orcs) and they look amazing on the table. I am working on the dwarves and can't wait to get them up. Just my 2 cents! |

Great job! That clarifies a lot. I bought some Blood Dawn Dwarves a year ago and they look great, but don't scale with anything I have so they've been left behind. I'll try Chariot next time! |

I'm trying to get my dwarves sorted out for my BOFA project, to see what I've got and what I need. I've got dwarves from a few different manufacturers that I've picked up on ebay, but quite a few of them are too big so I'm going to get rid of them. These are some of the ones I've decided to go with:
I want to get some more of these to make up enough for a small dwarf army, but I don't know what make they are. I think they may be Chariot, as they look similar to the ones on this thread and on the Magister Militum website, but I can't see any exact matches. Can anyone help identify them? |

Hello MarshalMark, your dwarves are PeterPig from Range 19 " War in the Age of Magic"(WAM). Here´s a link to the Dwarven spears:

Thanks. I had looked at the Peter Pig website but none of the pictures showed kite shields so I didn't think it was them. They really could do with having more photos of painted figures on their website. I've just ordered some more to make up a small army. |
