Sunday will mark the 73rd anniversary of the Imperial Japanese Navy's attack on U.S. military installations on the Hawaiian island of Oahu on Dec. 7, 1941. The following is a brief list of movies and television series about or set around the attack on Pearl Harbor… link |

I agree about Tora Tora Tora. But In Harms Way is a good movie as well. Not just about Pearl Harbor, though. |

In Harms Way, and Air Force are both very good movies. Tora! Tora! Tora! is one of my favorite movies of all time. From Here to Eternity is also a good movie with a bit of Pearl Harbor in the end. Mike Bunkermeister Creek Bunker Talk blog |

I have a soft spot for Tora, Tora, Tora because the ship I served on, USS Greenlet, ASR-10, was docked at the sub base during the filming. It gave a person chills after at day at sea to approach the harbor entrance and see the air full of smoke, AA "bursts" and diving planes. Our Signalman was hired by the film company to see that all the WWII ships were flying the proper flags and pennants. |

Yeah, like "From Here to Eternity" (the film). Too bad they didn't do right by the next novel, "The Thin Red Line". |

Honourable mention to They Were Expendable Pearl Harbor casts a change of fate for Mr. Wayne's plans. |

I agree, Tora, Tora, Tora is the Rolls Royce of Pearl Harbor movies. In fact, I watched it on Sunday. On the other hand, that horrid waste of film from 2001 was so incredibly stupid one wonders how the script got to production. Even the CGI airplanes were bad, behaving more like a swarm of mosquitoes than warplanes. From Here to Eternity was great, especially Burt Lancaster on the roof with the BAR. I liked In Harmīs Way, especially the lovely Paula Prentiss, but the ending was so stupid. "Why did the ships turn away? We donīt know, ha ha ha!" Awful! |

And the subplot of "The Final Countdown" with Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen and the flattop USS Nimitz(as jowady mentioned). |

"The Final Countdown" with Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen and the flattop USS Nimitz Isn't that the one where the captain gets on the PA to make a speech to the crew, and it shows a couple of guys in the mess looking up from their game of Squad Leader? It's weird what one remembers… Oh, and I can see the Nimitz from my office window right now. |

There were some epic movies of the 60s and 70s that were particularly well scripted. Tora Tora Tora is among them. From Here to Eternity was filmed not so far away from the actual events (just 12 years) and still had some of the feel for the time. The all star cast didn't hurt any either. |

I bombed Pearl Harbor is a good movie from the Japanese perspective and I believe that TORA TORA TORA stole (er used) some of the footage from that movie..I enjoy watching it |

The one thing about Tora, Tora, Tora that always bugged me was the sub-titles. Not that I mind sub-titles, it's just that they used white letters in scenes where everyone in the Japanese navy was wearing white, which made the sub-titles kind of pointless! |
