Hundvig Fezian is not a real big fan of pre-painted minis, and he positively despises randomly-packed "collectable" ones - so why is he writing this article?

Last week Mattias and I huddled up in his apartment to try out The Dogs & the Dust, the homebrew sci-fi game that he is writing. Though it's still a work-in-progress, Mattias plans to publish the completed game one day in the not-too-distant future. The "alpha" version that we playtested gave a good overview of the main rules engine, combat and crew creation.

Here's a link to the full battle report: link

And here are a few pics from the game.

Nice pix, good mix of figs.

The AAR reveals the game to be pretty intriguing. Do you alternate activations or does one side do everything first?

If you are looking for more playtesters I am sure the Wargamers in Japan

could be persuaded -by me- to give them a try!

Thanks!

Acharnement: Good question. The game uses alternating figure activation. So I activate a guy, decide which dice I want to use to activate him, carry out his actions, then my opponent gets a chance to activate a figure. This continues until each figure has been activated.

Note that reacting during an opponent's activation counts as the activation for that figure. So you can't react and then act again later in the turn.
