"The weapons behind the muscle.

When it comes to lethal weapons, the U.S. Army has no shortage. Some may be too expensive, some too complex and others may be desired by politicians and defense contractors, but not the troops on the field.

Nonetheless, today's U.S. Army can generate an astonishing amount of firepower and deliver it in a variety of settings from small-war counterinsurgency to big-war mechanized combat. With that in mind, here are five of the best U.S. Army weapons:…"

L4 is Army, Armand. How much love do you have for the Argentine Air Force?

Let's see here:
Apache
Abrams
Paladin self-propelled artillery
TOW
Ma Deuce

Well, I think a much smarter TOW would be nice, a TOW-weight version of the Javelin. But as a list of "what's in service now," that's a pretty good call.

Who ? The author of the article ? It isn't Shakespeare, but it's generally pretty accurate …

IIRC, there was a shift in the meaning of "decimate" some time during/after WW1. Apparently, "decimate" used to mean "kill one man in 10." Now it means "leave one man in 10 alive".

No substence to this article, would have been spot on for 2003, March to Baghdad. Off target for 2014.

The venerable TOW missile is in process of being replaced by the M41 SABER (which was intentionally designed to be backward compatible with and able to fire the existing stocks of TOW missiles) system. Deployed USMC units (and while I'm not certain but I'd expect at least the US Army formations assigned to the global response force units) are going to employ the SABER not the TOW today, though I would not doubt that there are Army Reserve/National Guard formations that are still equipped with TOW.

I'd have put the MLRS system in there instead of the Paladin. While the updated M109 is a very good system, which with the Excalibur round now has reliable/effective precision fires capability (unlike the old copperhead). The MLRs is more lethal and longer ranged. The current MLRs with the Guided MLRS (GMLRS) and ATACM rounds is a game changer when tied into the Intelligence Surveillence and Reconnaissance (ISR) network.

While it's not sexy or easily expressed to laymen, the ISR network that the U.S. Joint Force (which I understand is outside of the "U.S. Army's 5 Most Lethal Weapons of War") currently employs is arguably the most potent weapon the U.S. is likely to employ.
