This game took place in an alien ghetto in a section of the African anti-diaspora controlled by China. A large scale smuggling operation had been going on as the alien underground and resistance had dug tunnels under the borders and some less-ethical Chinese businessmen had been bringing in all kinds of contraband.

A force of Chinese troops was sent in air cars to land and find the tunnels, find the buildings where the tunnels had their origin and collapse them and arrest any members of the alien resistance.

The Chinese player had 250 pts of troops, each air car had enough room for 6 models, PA troopers counted as 2 models, biker troops counted as 3, a TAG needed its own aircar.

In addition to the mission of finding and destroying the tunnels the expedition would be encumbered by 3 embedded reporters, one a photojounralist and the other two a reporter and her camera man.

For public relations purposes it was important that none of them get killed.

There were a number of civilians in the area and neither side wanted to see any of them die either.

The Chinese player VP were as follows:

Discover tunnel origin – 5 VPs
Destroy tunnel origin – 2 VPs
Keep reporters all alive – 2 VPs
More kill points than aliens – 5 VP

The alien player VP were as follows:

Each tunnel origin not found – 4 VPs
Each tunnel origin not destroyed – 3 VPs
More kill points than Chinese – 5 VPs

The scenario lasted 8 turns, if the Chinese could kill all the aliens before turn 6 it was decided that they could search out the tunnels at their leisure.

The aliens had 200 pts but started the game with all of their models hidden.

We used the Infinity rules for the scenario.

The camera crew were moved by the Chinese player, they had to stay within 6 inches of the player's lieutenant.

If he was killed then they moved randomly, as did all other civilians.

The game starts with the Chinese player moving air cars onto the table. The air cars move 10/10, have armor 4 and 3 STR points, with a BTS of -6.

As it turns out we probably made the air cars too tough.

The Chinese player was not allowed to use any vehicle mounted weapons as they didn't want to make their troops look bad.

The air cars have the following:

1) 3 Zhanshi, 3 reporters, one Zhanshi is the LT.

2) Guilang Sniper, 3 Zhanshi, one is an engineer

3) Ariagato Butai, 3 Keisotsu Butai

3 Tiger soldiers are in reserve.

The Alien resistance is made up of a WCD Vector operator/hacker, a Gwailos with a spitfire, a Skiavoros lt., a Cadmus and a Rasyrat with a Spitfire.

Airborne deployment troops that can drop onto the table need to have air superiority before they can do so. Both sides roll a d20 at the start of the turn, the aliens have a -3 to their result, the side with the higher number wins and only they can drop troops that turn.

The Chinese troops bring air cars 1 and 2 in on the east side of the table with the other moving in from the South.

Air car one lands directly behind the district house, South of the indoor bazaar. Troops disembark.

Air car two lands North of the indoor bazaar. Troops disembark.

Air car three continues in the air.

On the alien turn the Skiavoros and the Cadmus emerge from the district house and the bazaar respectively and open fire on the Zhanshi deployed from air car one.

(Caught in a hail of plasma and bullets, the Zhanshi are in a tight spot)

In return fire the Skiavoros is damaged but all three Zhanshi are killed, sending the reporters running for cover.

The skiavoros moves to the other side of the district building.

(Air car two reorganizes after the death of the Lt.)

After taking a moment to reorganize following the death of their Lt. the Chinese troops send the Guilang sniper out and around a small farm house to fire on the Skiavoros. She takes fire from the WCD Vector operator in the shack on the hill but manages to take out the Skiavoros, and then dives into the farm building for cover.

(Air car three realizes it is well out of position for the fighting.)

Now it is the alien turn to reorganize.

Air car 2 moves up to provide cover for the Guilang between it and the shack.

Air car 3 moves over toward the north and lands between the farm building and the shack as well, just to the north east of air car 2.

(Triple cover for the Guilang)

The Cadmus retreats into the building after taking fire from the Guilang.

The Guilang re-camouflages.

The aliens have won air superiority again so the Rasyrat drops in, missing his drop point fairly significantly. He moves up and opens up on the Zhanshi from Air car two.

picture

(Airborne ambush)

None of them are facing his direction and he manages to take out the engineer, the other two turn around.

The Arigato Butai zooms out of Air Car three, screened
from the WCD operator by the car itself. The Rasyrat turns to face him and a brief firefight sees the Rasyrat go down.

The biker races down and around to the bazaar to try to dig the Cadmus out. Approaching the window he pops up ready to fire, only to have his head blown off instantly by the Cadmus who had heard the biker boy moving up.

The WCD operator tries to hack into the controls of air car 3 but is unsuccessful.

Finally gaining air superiority the Chinese drop their Tiger soldiers. The rush up to the bazaar, firing heavy machine gun fire and gouts from a light flamethrower into the structure. This time the Cadmus is caught out and HMG rounds punch through him even as he is bathed in burning jellied gasoline.

(A civilian runs as the bazaar is set ablaze and thoroughly re-ventilated)

Things are desperate for the aliens. Although the Chinese have yet to find a single tunnel, if they lose one more of their troops the Chinese will be able to explore the field at their leisure.

The Keisotsu Butai move out of Air car 3 to take out the WCD operator. He guns shoots one as they emerge from the vehicle, the man stands fast and returns fire. In the ensuing gun battle the alien is cut down with a critical hit only killing one of the Keisotusu Butai in return.

The remaining resistance member, the Gwailos, slinks away from the combat, vowing vengeance on the humans.

Overall the Chinese forces won a decisive victory.

They got rid of the aliens in 5 turns, killed more than they were killed and didn't get any reporters killed.

The reporters didn't get very good footage of the battle because of being out of contact with the leader but that didn't matter much to the Chinese.

I think next time we do something like this we will give the Chinese forces less points. We didn't really count the air cars as an advantage for the Chinese and they really did a good job of moving them around the table.

The Gwailos had a good spot for line of fire protecting the one tunnel but once the battle ended up on the other side of the table there was no way he was going to get over there. Air Car 3 moved the one group of Chinese troops right up into in one turn.

I also need more cheap alien troops. Being outnumbered 13-5 kind of sucks even if your troops are pretty good. Also the Cadmus is not that good.

I'm new to Infinity, Scott, and am just today assembling my Icestorm minis in preparation for playing a game. What changes did you make (if any) to the rules in order to run this? Thanks!

PapaSync01 Dec 2014 7:45 p.m. PST

Very nice AAR. Great looking table too.

I'm glad you guys liked the report.

nazrat, I didn't really make any changes, we just made up some rules for the air cars and civilians. Otherwise we just played the game the way we usually play it, which is probably at least partially wrong.

But there isn't anything we really do deliberately wrong.
