Recently played a very fun scenario with Honorable Son #5 using the Lord of the Rings rules and the first gaming debut of our Gripping Beast Vikings.

Nice figures and terrain. I like the use of the fabric (burlap?).

Thanks for posting!

Great pictures and layout. The Gripping Beast figs do make very good warriors of Rohan.

Out of curiosity, what edition of the rules did you use? I've been acquiring various LOTR books and minis recently, but haven't decided what tack to take yet.

Great looking game

Grignotage – Yes it is burlap from a local hobby store.

Ordinarybass – We use the rule book that came out when the Return of the King was released in theaters.

Who makes the buildings?

Dining Room Battles26 Nov 2014 5:53 p.m. PST

The buildings were from various Warhammer boxes and expansion sets.

Thanks LTC,
I have that book as well. It seems to have all the necessary rules and army lists accumulated from the three movies that you need for a good game. I have a copy of the hobbit mini-rulebook, but I like RotK book better.

That it's almost free used helps too!

Just curious, but why didn't you use the GW Rohan shields on the GB Vikings? They would look so much more like Rohan troops rather than standard GB Vikings.

ordinarybass28 Nov 2014 3:09 p.m. PST

I can't answer for him, but do you mean the type of shields or the design on them? The type looks to be the same as Rohan though I think he painted them as vikings rather than Riders of Rohan.

Dining Room Battles29 Nov 2014 5:39 p.m. PST

I used Viking shields because I painted them as Vikings to use in historical games. We decided to use them for the scenario and try them out since we only had Minis Tirith troops and did not want to use them.
