Not that it is my favourite, but you missed "Casino Royale" 1967. But I think the 2006 version is my personal favourite. |

GoldFinger and Quantum of Solace. Never liked the ones with Roger Moore. And the films with Pierce Bronson were even worse. |
Some Chicken | 24 Nov 2014 9:54 a.m. PST |
Although in most cases I would say original is better than new 'improved' for modern tastes, for me Daniel Craig is easily the best Bond to date, adding gravitas, plausibility and a tortured soul to the mix. And then there is the stunning Eva Green. Combining these ingredients gives us the later Casino Royale, my de facto favourite, despite the rather uncomfortable scene involving Bond's (ahem) undercarriage, what looks like a knotted rope and a chair offering no protection whatsoever in the danger area. |

I'll add From Russia With Love as my second favorite. I like Daniel Craig, and my first introduction to bond was through Moonraker (so I have a soft spot for Roger Moore, even though the films were a mixed bag). I think it would be easier for me to make a list of least favorites, to be honest. License To Kill and Die Another Day share that dubious honor for me. |

Dr. No. Ursula Undress is still the best Bond girl ever. Octopussy comes close and has the best Bond movie name. |

Rats! I think I left off "A View to a Kill" (1985) That was Roger Moore's last Bond movie. Perhaps Dear Editor would add it to the list? |

Terrement: The original Climax TV version of Casino Royale, with Barry Nelson as an American James Bond and Felix Leiter appearing as a British agent, was, as you would suspect, pretty bad. About a year or so ago it was rebroadcast fairly regularly on the cable channel Epix Drivein. It was worth watching once as a historical curiosity. Peter Lorre wasn't nearly as good as Le Chiffre as you might imagine; by this point in his career he was more of a comical villain than a serious one-think Roger Corman/Vincent Price AIP films (Lorre didn't play Le Chiffre for laughs, but he simply wasn't believably sinister-then again, Nelson was not very credible as a hero either). Goldfinger is great, maybe followed by GoldenEye, which breathed new life into the franchise IMO. I still like Live and Let Die for it's peculiar setting and mood, plus a great title song :) |

Casino Royale (2006) for the same reasons as Some Chicken. Many of the films are fixed fondly in our memories and on repeat viewing have not aged as well as we think. I do feel every actor who played Bond brought something to the role. Moore and Connery did him enough times that in their later appearances they seem aged and weary, which the character doesn't need. So the franchise really does require new blood every so often. |

Depends on what mood I'm in. Moonraker and the spy Who Loved Me are firm favourites, For Your Eyes Only is a bit more down to earth and gritty. |

one of these Thunderball (1965) The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) You Only Live Twice (1967) Live and Let Die (1973) The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) while I think Connery was the better Bond I think Moore had the better stories. Craig's are great but, to me, almost in a different category, for the others, meh. |

A toss up between "Dr. No", "From Russia With Love" and "Goldfinger. For three different reasons. "Dr. No" because I saw it in a theater when it was released. The scene where he killed Dent was amazing for it's time. I can't recall any film "hero" shooting a man in cold blood before that. I believe when that worm turned it was a signal that the public was ready for emotionless "anti-hero" killers like "the man with no name" to appear. "From Russia With Love" because it lacked all of the gimmickry of the later Bond films. Just a great secret agent flick. One of the best ever. "Goldfinger" because it established the Bond films high budget glossy look and wild and memorable opening scenes. Not to mention the first appearance of the "tricked out" Aston Martin…and "poosy". (-: Daniel Craig is very good IMHO, but he could have been any spy. For me, only Connery is James Bond. As I read all of the novels it was his him that I saw in my mind's eye. |
