Hi guys Just wanted your honest nonbiased opinions of these against say Perry's as they have now been out for some while. I currently have a box of each and this may be a surprise to some but I prefer the sculpting of the Victrex in particular the heads but I have no idea on how accurate they are .I can stress in their favour that they don't suffer from the brittle musket syndrome associated with the early French and British sets. The reason for this request is that there is a 25% discount offer for Austrians and French but just runs for a short time only so I need to move fast but provided I can get the seal of approval for your good selves . Cheers |

They are accurate and great figures. I have over 10 boxes of the Victrix Austrians and thanks to the ability to have multiple options with arms, heads etc you can achieve variety for each battalion :) You can also create Jager, Pioneers, Miners etc from their box sets as well :) |

I like them both. One of the issues people seemed to have with Victrix was that the march attack pose was something that was mainly seen on the parade ground, just like the coat was folded and not rolled. But seriously – These ain't details that turns me off. |

I concur with the other responders that they are very good figures and, depending on the rule set, also include mounted officers which is a bonus. I have them built for 1809 (helmet) period and they look fine compared to the Perry's which I also have built for that campaign. The Grenadiers are very good too. Hope this helps. Erik |

I'm a big fan of the French Imperial Garde sets; lovely minis, easy to assemble and with a lot of conversion potential. |

Both are good, and both make for some very good gaming figures. That being said, I ended up getting more of the Victrex Austrians, and I like them. I also agree with KaweWeissiZadeh statement above. |

So the greatcoats, outside of the parade ground, would have been rolled rather than folded? Never knew that. Both Victrix and Perry have them folded…additionally Victrix shows them with the open ends toward the right shoulder, while Perry has it just the opposite, with open ends over the left shoulder. |

I'd love to see some plastic Austrians wearing greatcoats! And Prussians, and (especially) Russians. |

I bought a whole Division of Victrix. I did have a look at Perry too. Victrix look a tad long in the midriff, but acceptably so. They have more character than the Perry figures. Victrix are, I think, slightly beefier and easier to paint. The sprues have double backpacks so that you get grenadier backpacks as well as line. However, you only get one set of heads on a sprue, Kasket, Shako or bearskin. The sprues are all identical save for the heads. The Austrian uniform was a pretty standard one. I will probably use the spare backpacks as casualty or disorder markers. The mounted officers come with a choice of headgear so you can have them in with the regiment, or apart as Generals/ADCs. No need to spend £3.50 GBP on a higher command figure…. Perry give you all three head types on a sprue, so you can choose what you want. I understand Victrix will be extending the Austrian range shortly. Grenz Infantry and Landwehr. Nothing wrong with Perry, but I am very pleased with the Victrix figures and would buy them again. Especially at that sort of a deal you have been offered. It's a very complete set. Front Rank Cavalry go with them very well. |

PS, get some wire pikes to cut down to replace the flagpoles. Don't forget, only 1 Fahne per unit in the Austrian army. At first I thought Victrix was short on flag bearers, but in fact they are correct. 1 box of 48 made 2 full units for my Austrian army. |

I have both. I like the variety of the different poses. imho, though, the Perry infantry are easier to prep. |

"So the greatcoats, outside of the parade ground, would have been rolled rather than folded? " Not necessarily – they were still worn on the back pack (rolled and placed on top of it) but there exist also immages showing the greatcoats rolled and worn across the shoulder (like Russians and Prussians) – but there seemingly was no strict rule on this. My favourites are certainly Perrys |

Thanks guys you have been very helpful . Long term I will indeed have both makes . Short term I will take advantage of the Victrix offer and order some boxes from them . As regards the Landwehr , I thought they already have these in their range. Grenze Infantry would be welcomed . |

Victrix have the Landwehr out. I think what 1815Guy is alluding too is the possible release of Hungarian / Grenzer box set?! I haven't heard anything about this but if it's true that's another 10 boxes from me :) |
von Winterfeldt | 25 Nov 2014 4:45 a.m. PST |
for Grenzer – Austrian Hungarian infantry is usually doing the job, other than Grenzscharfschützen you can do the bulk of the Grenzer. |

Interesting, I've got heaps of the Perry Austrians but might grab a couple of boxes of the Victrix Austrian Grenadiers, and maybe the Vixtrix French Guard too. Postage quite a bit overseas though. |

The Victoria Austrian range is delightful, accurate uniform wise and varied enough without having to spend hours cutting out a million pieces from the sprues. They are a great buy even out here in Australia :) |
