This has been posted before but it has appeared on the Perrys' website much earlier than I had expected. It adds to the Retreat range and Boney does also come with a much more sensible fur hat (see how the rest are dressed after all).

Niels Rullkoetter, of course, is the brains behind this and I have a much treasured prototype of this, devoid of passengers, that he sent me, but which is still languishing in the "to do" queue!

Always thought to be best fly on the wall so to speak in history would have been to be the footman on the coach ride from Moscow. Love the figures,

Maybe upset by losing a huge army?

Nah, more annoyed by the amount of work he can see in front of him to build a new huge army..

Errr …. no, that guy up on the back was one of the Polish lancers, and he froze to death (only 1-2 of the lancers' officers from the detachment survived).

Really nice sleigh!

And it does not have to be "Napoléon's sleigh". He just took one from the local area (it was not a special thing brought with the army from France).

So, the model could be used for a rich Russian officer, a local member of the gentry, the beautiful princess Repnina who you must prevent from falling into the hands of the starving French foragers, dear old Father Vanya saving the Icon of the local church, etc., etc.

Best rendering of Boney I have seen, judged by contemporary paintings of course, not too many photos after all! OK it maybe flatters him, a bit youthful for 1812, but you would know it was him!

We have seen the original here before, from the Borodino museum and, as I recall, more likely Davout's. As Alexandre says, this is a generic vehicle that would fit almost anywhere, (but for the Egypt Campaign?)

But what skill and imagination in modelling! Look at that Guard Lancer and the folds in his clothing. These are all a real work of art…though they make not be a commercial sensation and make the Perrys' fortune. How many other manufacturers will indulge their artistic talents and get away from French Ligne in "March attack"?

OK , Westfalia will do the minority interest stuff I admit. Calpe will risk doing Prussian units many of us have never heard of….but beyond them….the rest do play it safe. I suspect they have to!

impressive as usual – another gem in the Retreat of Russia 1812 range – the Perrys – just leading on innovation
