I finally came around to take some sensible pictures of my Iberian Scutati. Early works they are, but they sure add some colour to any Carthaginian army. As always you find more pictures, historical considerations and some painting advise on my blog:

I do invite you to discuss some of the topics mentioned on my blog,as this topic is of great interest to me and I always welcome new/different views and the reasoning (preferably with references)behind them.

@Skeptic: You are welcome, the research is half of the fun ;).

@goragrad: Thank you.

Very nice!

I have an all Corvus Belle Carthaginian Army, well it is actually made up of 3 large armies and a small Carthaginian army….

I have Spanish, Numidian and Gaul.

The Gauls are the the only ones not completely Corvus Belle, they will be half War and Empire figures, which I am told will match. (I signed up for their Kickstarter and the figures should be out soon!)

To match this force I have bought, again from War and Empire Kickstarter a Roman Republican army that will number 456 legionaries, 48 veletes and 48 cavalry..representing 4 legions. I got my initial inspiration from John Roach, and his Olicanalad blog

But I'll be checking your blog out now as your Spanish look great!

Thank you gentlemen.

@Frostie: It is funny, I have the exact same plan.However, I'll only field 3 legions ;).

Looks great. Size wise, are xyston and corvus comparable?

Peithetairos25 Nov 2014 11:52 p.m. PST

@Emperorbaz:

The guy in the middle is Corvus Belli, all the other guys are Xyston, so it does really work well even in one unit.

Great job on these. I am planning to build a Carthaginian army in 2015 – in 28mm using the impending Victrix releases as well as other manufacturer. Your figures give me some handy ideas for my Spanish contingent.

Appreciate your research – made for interesting reading.

@Mithridates: Glad you found the post informative. Looking forward to see some of your Carthaginians when they are finished.
