I'm wondering if anyone knows whether the UAR forces didn't just have sand coloured helmets during this war? Osprey shows them in sand, and FOW for which I'm painting forces for FoaN has them in Iraqi Sand or Dark Sand. However I recently saw an Israeli film on Sky somewhere which was about a unit of Israelis attacking a radar station or something, and the UAR reinforcements arrived wearing mostly Soviet green helmets. Now I'm wondering, was this poetic licence or slack research by the film director, or was there a mixture of colours in service? Searches on Google just bring up sand coloured ones in photos, and the same in what books I have on the subject. Does anyone know categorically if there were any units wearing green, or a mixture of colours? |

Sorry I can't help answer the question, but what was the name of the movie you saw? That sounds like a great movie to paint 6DW figures to. I painted all my UAR in sand colored helmets. It could be a nice break to have a green helmet mixed in to the lot. Chris |

Thanks Von Ted. Several pages of very interesting pics I've never come across before on that site. Spooner6, I can't remember the name of the film, except it was on Moviesformen channel, 325? I think that is on Sky. I've looked on Google but nothing rings a bell on there under Israeli war films unfortunately. |
