"Trucks marked ‘Gruz 200' could be hearses for Moscow's dead.

The Kremlin has gone to great lengths to deny any direct involvement in the war in Ukraine, even as Russian soldiers have entered eastern Ukraine in increasing numbers since April to fight alongside pro-Moscow separatists.

But despite tactics ranging from blunt official denials to government pressure on soldiers' families to remain silent, there is mounting evidence that Russian soldiers are not just fighting in Ukraine.

They are dying there in large numbers…"

Difficult to say. We haven't yet actually seen what is inside the trucks, moving in or out.

"Vasilieva estimated that as many as 4,000 Russians have died in Ukraine, based on information she has obtained from her Facebook group"

But she doesn't distinguish between:

1. Serving Russian personnel

2. Russian 'tourists', retired, ex servicemen, etc

3. Ethnic Russians ordinarily living in Ukraine

Of course, while Russia may not actually be sending troops, it's failure to secure the border from the Russian side has severely exacerbated the situation. Turning a blind eye as to who is crossing the border and entering the fight is pretty much as bad as sending them…

Whether or not they are being sent directly, Russia has to remain consistent that they are NOT sending anything into Ukraine, because the public backlash could be considerable:

"According to the survey, 68 percent of Russians polled "do not want their sons to fight" in southeastern Ukraine on the side of pro-Moscow militants. Only one in seven—13 percent—would support their sons doing so."

However this was interesting:

"The poll also indicates that Russians are skeptical of the Kremlin's official story regarding the involvement of Russian forces in Ukraine. Just 13 percent of Russians accept the government's claim that no Russian forces are fighting there."

The centre carrying out the poll was threatened with closure.

4. Ukrainian civilian citizens of Russian extraction.
These delves into the situation are all clouded info.
I'd not be surprised about Russian military personal deaths in East Ukraine
Just as I would not be surprised when we start hearing about US armed forces deaths in Iraq and then Syria and perhaps Lybia, maybe again in Afghanistan, where else?
Its all speculation until its officially accepted by the powers we accuse of meddling.
As Phil sang "just another day in…"

And 'facebook? Really!'

Ah yes, no Russian troops in Ukraine, just like none in Crimea.

For some reason, I'm skeptical.

Someone is going to have some 'splainin' to do.
