… To Iraq's Army And Kurdish Fighters. "Top U.S. officials said earlier this month that they would ask Congress to spend $1.6 USD billion in fiscal 2015 to help equip security forces across Iraq, as the country continues to grapple with how to expel Islamic State militants from cities and towns in controls. A new Defense Department document outlines what that money will go toward — and underscores just how much firepower Washington wants to send Baghdad in its bid to help. The details are in a 16-page justification for an amendment to the Pentagon's fiscal 2015 budget sent to Congress. It calls for $1.24 USD billion to be spent on weapons for the Iraqi military, $354.8 USD million to be spent on arms for Kurdish peshmerga troops, and $24.1 USD million for an arsenal sent to tribal security forces in western Anbar province. Bloomberg News reported on the document Friday. From here link Amicalement Armand |

Brilliant idea! Give Iraq more weapons that their army can surrender to ISIS. Some people never learn……….. You know, if we just gave the money/weapons to ISIS directly, that'd be a lot more efficient, and cut out the middlemen. In the meantime, we're cutting our military budget, weapons systems, and troops, since we don't have money to fund them. Yep, that is definitely a war winning strategy, though I suspect it isn't for the benefit of our side. |

It's an unusual tactic but one that seems to be working very well for the enemy. |

The Romans and Napoleon supplied and trained the troops that conquered their respective Empires too. (Shakes head, no one ever learns) |

what happened to all that oil money that was suppose to pay for the 2nd War? I can see giving arms to the Kurds, I know where those will be used. Not sure I want to give arms to the Shia, let them buy them. |

The $1.24 USD billion should all be spent with the Kurds. The Iraqi government and army already had their shot and promptly gave it all away to The Caliphate. Fool me once… |

Yeah, give it to the Kurds. First they kill ISIS until they run out of ISIS. Then it goes on the black market to the next group of terrorists or gets used directly by Kurdish Terrorists. The Kurds are not some mythical good guy, but just another flavor of the same. They seem to have a preference for blowing up buses at beach resorts. Yeah, a great idea. link link link |

Good point EJNashill There's no good guys in this war. Just a bunch of thugs with guns and a whole heap of innocents caught in the middle. |
