Wondering if anyone had a chance to look at these yet and/or come across any online reviews, ARRs or otherwise. Googling so far hasn't thrown anything up for me.

Been reading them but not much else. No time.

No full blown reviews or AARs out there yet [that I know of], but there are some early impressions posted in several places and some awesome projects in the works. This was taken from the Wargame Vault discussion section:

I have looked through my copy of Rogue Planet, and I really, really like what I see. I have always been a fan of rules-light miniatures skirmish games, and there is a heck of a lot of game packed into these 24 pages, while remaining easy for anyone to learn. I find the unconventional method of having no measuring system to be very interesting, and the rules have very good counters to keep it from being overpowered in it's implementation, as well as keeping the non-active player involved in the action.

The possible imbalance of the measurements of the FX system could be overcome by making each FX range into a 3" band, but the three-finger approach works just fine for fun and casual games and adds a whimsical touch that still offers constructive in-game effects. It's basically a rules implementation of the "Rule of Cool".

The openness of the weapons categories can be a bit bland compared to the more granular games out there, but they also allow for fast and simple functionality, and also allow players to truly use any figures they have at their disposal. I also love how instead of just having skill checks be simple boring pass/fail matters like most wargames, skill checks are a three-tiered system of fail, partial success and total success.

The Rogue Die mechanic is also very well implemented in the effects it adds to what in other games are just standard boring dice rolls. It automatically adds extra depth to the actions and weapons it is associated with.

On the whole, I essentially agree with everything stated in Rogue Planet's description. I really hope to see it hitting my game table fairly often, and I highly recommend it.

This Rogue Planet project promises to be epic, and I'm sure that a battle report can't be far off. Hope that helps!

But is it 'innovative' and can you use 'real tactics'? :)
