What are the figures? I thought I recognised some Redoubts in there. What else? |

Yes, I'd also like to know what figures you used, especially for the Zulus. |

Thanks for the comments. I have a few Redoubt (the artillery in the pics) but most of the British regs are Old Glory as are the mounted horse; dismounted versions are Redoubt. The Zulu command figures are Redoubt, but the rank and file are from the rarely used Connoisseur range. These were sculpted for Chris Gilder in the US by Mike Tyson -- NOT the boxer. The detail is quite good but they are are tall and not so heroic as Black Tree or Foundry. Quite honestly, they are not the greatest figures, but I love them because they are one piece casting. No gluing shields on; absolute gold to me. |

Phil Glad to hear the rules worked for you. In the fringe market that is colonials, TSATF seems to have captured the imagination of most. I cut my teeth on colonials using Gilder's rules but found them still too mechanically fiddly (although the Pony Wars approach was terribly fun). So, I wrote BFE to suit my sense of the period and a grander approach to this genre of gaming. Never liked individually mounted figures….. |

Thanks for the information, sausagesca. Are the Connoisseur figures available anywhere? I quite like their old fashioned look, and being one piece is high on my list also! |

Bicorne cast them. They use an excellent metal and I have found their moulds produce very clean castings even of the old Connoisseur range. I can't speak to the state of their Zulu moulds, however. I suspect that they do not get spun very often. One other thing, most of the range is in full regalia. To get the plainly dressed Zulus you need to find the pack called 'generic Zulus'. I think it is actually listed under their 'equipment groups'. |

I really appreciate the information. In looking at their catalogue I couldn't even find a Zulu range, but strangely enough, they do have that pack of generic Zulus available, and yes, listed under Equipment (?!). I prefer lightly clad/headringed warriors anyway, so your tip was helpful. Thank you again, and keep up the great work! |

No worries, Daryl. I too looked at their site and couldn't find the rest of the range. If you are determined I am sure they would cast them up for you. There were loads of variants in the 'regimental' regalia codes. As I said, not sure of the mould quality and they might not suit your tastes anyway. In the generic set I think there is only 3-4 variants. I bent arms to give some variety. Seems to work and en masse I still think they look good. I use the feathered guys to denote special units (elite or brittle). |

Being a man of little restraint, I just ordered a pack of those generic Zulus. I'm interested to see how they look. Thank you! |

Hope they are OK. I know they are not the greatest figures around, but they have served me well enough. I will be interested to see if the mould is good -- as I said, I have been impressed by the casting quality of Bicorne Connoisseur Napoleonics. |
