Kyote, just don't be such an arse, OK? grin

Yes, post about wargaming on the Ultramodern board. That is what it is for.

But don't go there if you're going to whine.

When you post it on four or five topics? Then you're being annoying.

If you think a topic doesn't belong, hit the complaint button.

The Ultramodern board is meant to provide a place for people to be excited about contemporary gaming, including discussion of those contemporary military events that lead to TOEs and scenarios and campaigns.

If you're going to ask the same darned question on more than one topic, then just don't go there, OK? grin

Kyote, maybe you should just stay away from the Ultramodern board, OK? grin

Is "How would you game kyoteblue posting on the Ultramodern board?" a legitimate question?

Robert Kennedy18 Nov 2014 10:40 p.m. PST

That and does anyone make a miniature of kyoteblue and in what scale? wink LOL.

KTravlos18 Nov 2014 11:16 p.m. PST

Kyoteblue, just stay away from those boards. There is nothing there but mud, death and degradation. They are not worth your time or presence.

Rod I Robertson19 Nov 2014 4:31 a.m. PST

KTravalos:
Mud, death and degradation? I thought that was the raison d'être of the WWI Board. We should not take their thunder given it is their centennial anniversary this year.
Kyoteblue:
Would you feel offended if you were represented as a blue coyote miniature in the new miniatures gameTMPUMB, a skirmish set of rules for digital k'vetching between predominantly male yentas about the minutiae of pushing lead atop tables. You would represent the hammer of orthodoxy and would be set upon by mobs of cheerful but aged gerbils with very sharp teeth and bifocals, nipping at your azure flanks as you try to herd them back on topic. They in turn would score points by following the lead of a beguiling Latin pied-piper who tries to lead the gerbils astray. And behind this action would be an arcane, sinister figure straight out of HP Lovecraft's Cthulhu cycle represented by a deck of consequence cards which would introduce inexplicable random events and unfathomable consequences for the actions of coyotes, gerbils and pipers alike. Oh, and one rule of the game is that it can never be played between 3:00 and 6:00 am EST.
Cheers.

I will now know that the phrase "just don't be such an arse, OK?" is acceptable, safe in the knowledge that it's not – as might seem – a 'personal attack', and as such, DH worthy.

Because it covers a lot of people in a lot of situations.

sjwalker3819 Nov 2014 11:14 a.m. PST

It's clearly not a personal insult, as the EiC is not calling the honourable member an 'arse' because to do so, of course, would be an insult and therefore proscribed by the 'rules'

He is in fact advising him NOT to act in any way which might be considered 'arse-like' or prompt others to refer to said member using that epithet, which could lead to them being DH'd.

So it's clearly a kindly act, one which we should all seek to emulate on a regular basis – maybe we should practice it?

Gwydion19 Nov 2014 11:40 a.m. PST

I'm simply impressed with the British English spelling of arse. Jolly good!

Oh Bugger19 Nov 2014 11:56 a.m. PST

Well yes though to use the American 'ass' would be a Donkey of a different color.

Still arse has arrived. Should we now anticipate 'feck' and 'womens knickers' as the TMP lexicon already permits 'girls'?

So you missed the thread entitled "The Exploits of Bleeped text Pasha" on the Renaissance boards then?

sjwalker3819 Nov 2014 12:34 p.m. PST

Interesting, F*ck gets bleeped in a message but not when it's in a title, that could be dangerous.

I will now know that the phrase "just don't be such an arse, OK?" is acceptable…

Well, as the site FAQ says…

Can I call someone an arseclown?
Yes – nobody will take that seriously…

Robert Kennedy19 Nov 2014 5:41 p.m. PST

Not that it really matters. But its kinda funny that my comment, which did not break any of the rules at all, was deleted LOL. But then again it was because it was in response to a previous post LOL.

Robert Kennedy19 Nov 2014 6:02 p.m. PST

I have been laffin' the whole time kyoteblue. wink.

David Manley19 Nov 2014 11:24 p.m. PST

Interesting to see how "harrassment" is interpreted these days :)

Was on of the doomsday and angst over the Terrorist/Soviet Übermensch as extreme during the cold war as it is now with Russia a shaddow of it's former strength as the USSR and the US much stronger militarily than in 1990?

I'm asking since I was born in 1988, so I didn't really have memories of the cold war, and I didn't grow up with the constant thread of hair trigger nuclear annihilation.

Otherwise, if the ultramoderns board is representative of the Cold War panic, I'm surprised that we didn't all drown in our collective excrement…

Weasel20 Nov 2014 11:55 p.m. PST

Just post the gaming stuff in the cold war or modern forums.

To be honest, during the 80s it never really felt to me that it was all suddenly just going to kick off but then that was the back end of things, I wasnt around for Cuba etc.

I actually felt more worried in, it was either 98 or 99, when India and Pakistan really went at it for a while. It did feel to me for a moment that the nukes were going to fly then.
