What if the Martians landed on Earth and decided to play the "arm the irregulars" game in their path to defeating the Colonial powers? That is the world in "For Queen and Planet: The Imperial Wars of Earth and Mars, 1845-1930." This new set of mass battle, Victorian Sci-Fi rules is now available. We've been playtesting them at conventions and at our weekly games for 4+ years, and think you'll be happy with the result.
Our games provide a twist on those battles in the Sudan, China, and Africa, as Martian walkers, Cephalopods, and advanced artillery augment the native troops. No longer can the colonials sit back and assume they have the firepower to merrily blast away all day at the charging tribesmen. Our games make for a fun and interesting twist on Colonial warfare.
The rules are simple to learn and teach. Each player controls roughly 3-5 units that of half battalion size. The sequence of play keeps all commanders involved in the action. The mechanics are straight forward, with a unit attempting to roll 2d6 or less than its fire or melee factor to score casualties on enemy units. Morale is similarly simple and in keeping with the flavor of Colonial warfare.
The rules are available in PDF download on Wargame Vault for $7.70 USD. They will be ready for print on demand soon. You can download them here: link
