What wargame, miniature/s or possibly even gaming accessory would you not have parted with?

I have just been doing some thinking about all of the eras and types of gaming I have done over the years… I know we have all been a lot of places gaming wise… scales, eras, etc…

And it occured to me.. the only thing I really regret letting go were my collection of 20mm WW2 figures. I played the game Using the Under Fire rule set… it was great. At the time, it was hard to find a lot of 20mm WW2. I eventually sold them out to get into Flames of War… a part of me regrets it as Under Fire is a purely skirmish game and I loved it. I could always go back and pop my 15mm stuff off their bases and play WW2 skirmish, but I love FoW also….

It is a regret I have….

How about you folks?

Let go of miniatures?

Never been a problem I tried to face!

No regrets – everything I have sold has been replaced with other figures that I wanted more. Sold off my 1/72 plastic ACW and upgraded to 22mm metal.

AD&D Battlesystem.

Other than that, I've no regrets, aside from not buying Man o' War back in the day.

Maybe my 15mm ACW collection, but that is about it. I do regret my inability to concentrate on a key project or two.

Phil Hall14 Nov 2014 12:20 p.m. PST

9mm Scruby AWI armies. Averaged 32 figs to the regiment and had both sides for the Southern Campaign.

leidang14 Nov 2014 12:23 p.m. PST

My Epic 40k collection. Was always one of my favorites but after 10-12 years of sitting idle I sold off everything. I still miss the stuff though although passing it on was the right decision.

KTravlos14 Nov 2014 12:45 p.m. PST

A well painted 1000 point High Elf Army for Warhammer I sold. The games I bought with that money just did not work for me. I wish I kept it.

The Gray Ghost14 Nov 2014 12:50 p.m. PST

My 54mm figures

Dynaman878914 Nov 2014 1:02 p.m. PST

EVERY last one I ever sold. Even the ones I still have no intention of ever using.

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut14 Nov 2014 1:14 p.m. PST

My DGP Grand Survey and Grand Census for Traveller.

I just wish I'd made a better map of where everything is in my basement. Because it's all still in there. The spear trap and rolling boulder that blocks the only exit haven't been tested since we had kids, and I wonder how well it holds up.

Over the years I sold off all my 15mm, 20mm, 25mm, 28mm, and 54mm figure collections. I finally settled on 40mm and I don't regret selling everything else off. I just love this scale and wouldn't go back to any other scale. But I did enjoy all the other scale collections when I had them and gamed with them.

My FOW red army (it was huge) went to a club in Spain. Wish I hadn't done that now. And my essex 15mm early Persians, they were sold at a cold wars, and they were georgous. With custom spears from plastic broom bristles.

20mm Thomas ACW collection. Went to a very deserving
recipient, though…

McWong7314 Nov 2014 3:56 p.m. PST

My RT era plastics, especially the imperial guards.

Rrobbyrobot14 Nov 2014 3:59 p.m. PST

I wish I'd not given my copy of Tractics away.

Desert Fox14 Nov 2014 4:10 p.m. PST

HUGE collection of 1/72 1/76 scale WWII armour etc. from the late 1970s. Read Wargamers Digest and used Angriff rules on the basement floor.

Graduated to Mustangs and Messerschmitts in the early 1980s. Spent most of a summer building a large collection of 1/72 1/76 scale aircraft.

The Good Old Days

What I would give to have those collections back!

cavcrazy14 Nov 2014 6:45 p.m. PST

My Plains Indians war collection………"Sigh"

None. In fact I need to do another clear out…

21eRegt14 Nov 2014 10:01 p.m. PST

My 15mm Napoleonic era Austrians in the helmet. I had two corps (one very small) from the 1809 campaign.

snurl115 Nov 2014 12:34 a.m. PST

I regret not buying a bunch of figures when I saw them.
Found out the hard way that just because its in stock now doesn't mean it will ever be again.

Mute Bystander15 Nov 2014 6:44 a.m. PST

Snurf1 has my thought almost exactly, but replace "bunch" with "a small number" to hit the gold. Selected species from Stan Johansen's discontinued SF figures primarily.

Often (like the 200 SPI board games such as Strategy I to Starforce: Alpha Centauri,) Starguard figures, or the large box of 1/72 – 1/87th scale vehicles, I gladly sold/gave away to others.

Anything I sold off then later replaced I do not regret because my life has changed focus (scales and where in the Historical, Fantasy, Science Fiction spectrum) several time in six and a half decades.

I regret parting with:

- all my LOTR figures that were based on the Bakshi movie
- my 1/700 Yalu ships
- my Battletech figures

PatrickWR15 Nov 2014 9:02 a.m. PST

No regrets. Nothing sold has proven to be irreplaceable.

My D&D minituares (approx 500) that I collected from 1978 until 1995 which I had a someones house for safekeeping…which were then "lost", (along with my dremel and tools at the time)….

Sigh….

Cardinal Ximenez16 Nov 2014 11:12 a.m. PST

My original signed D&D stuff.

A painted 15mm Essex Kushan DBA army. Sold it and forever sorry that I did.

I would say my original 25mm Heritahe LOTR figures from the 80's or my 1/2400 Scale SFB ships.

capncarp17 Nov 2014 1:13 p.m. PST

The bucketloads of original Airfix figures I had accumulated since my first pack of Afrika Korps in the mid 1960's (I was but a wee lad then). My Mom guilted me into selling them at a yard sale in the mid 70's because I was going into college, and didn't need my "toys" anymore. <sigh> One of the few bits of advice from Mom that I regretted taking!

Weasel18 Nov 2014 10:30 a.m. PST

2nd edition Runequest box set. It was that nice, red, hardcover book that's wicked hard to find.

Poniatowski10 Dec 2014 1:55 p.m. PST

Ok.. if we add regrets of things never purchased too….

I really regret NOT getting the original Talisman games and the last of the GW Mordheim figures I am missing along with the 4 town criers I am missing… the figures I have been trying to find for almost 5 -6 years now and they sell for almost $100 USD each now a days….

Someday I might get lucky and finish my collection!
