I've been gaming FASA Star Trek for years and have a nice Klingon fleet. I also have a few other bits and bobs but I want to get some Federation ships. I have a mix of the original FASA ships and ones from Future Legends. It looks like Future Legends, no longer exist. Anyone know where I can get ships which will fit in with what I already have? |
Lion in the Stars | 12 Nov 2014 11:08 a.m. PST |
I think you need the Zocchi ships (old plastics). I don't know if ADB's Starline 2500 series will scale the same. |
The Goon from the Moon | 12 Nov 2014 11:29 a.m. PST |
Never heard of Zocchi. Are they in scale with what I have? |

Zocchi are really old, but amazingly good quality plastic models that fit in scale with the FASA ships, as do the Starline 2400 models for Star Fleet Battles. The newer Starline 2500 are a lot bigger than the FASA ships. |
The Goon from the Moon | 12 Nov 2014 11:45 a.m. PST |
Younger? Lol Anyone know if Zocchi ships are available in the UK? Fleabay have some but they're in Wisconsin. |
TheBeast | 12 Nov 2014 12:01 p.m. PST |
ADB is still doing their 2400, which is about the same as Zocchi. I was thinking Ravenstar did not-FASA, but the models are either a much larger scale, or very limited number of sculpts. Have you scanned Shapeways? I think there are some also similar, but I tend not to use printed ships. Alas, hanger18fasa's production fell to family matters; he has my thoughts and best wishes. Maybe someday… Doug Edit: Merde, that's what I get for starting a post at work, then not checking for updates. ;->= So, being 63, I can't call you the younger generation, either? |

I stock Zocchi Ships as well as a line that is 3900 scale same as FASA's. I also bought Hanger 21 FASA's masters and Ravenstars. I guess I have a good share of the stuff you are looking for :). Protowarfare.com Beast Hope you remember me from time to time :). |

How much would we be talking for say a Constelation class inc postage to the UK? I'm just after original series ships. I'd probably be looking at 5 or 6 ships to combine postage. |

I've been Scratchbuilding , converting and casting my own design's for years, In 1/3788 scale it dosn't take alot to accomplish.(1"= @ 100M) There's loads out there just drop for example "STAR TREK 1/3788 miniatures for sale" into a search engine and you will find more than you will ever need! change the theme Ie Battlestar Galactica or scale and so on. Have a look at my flker for some ideas of ranges that match scale too. link link |

As FASA used a fair number of movie-derived ships, the Polar Lights 2500 'Cadet' models give some kit-bashing possibilities for Feds, though large compared to original models. Doug |
Captain Gideon | 20 Nov 2014 9:12 a.m. PST |
Doug when you say that FASA used a fair number of movie-derived ships can you tell me how many? For myself I know that FASA made around 40 miniatures give or take 1 or 2 and I came up with these: Excelsior Reliant Enterprise Klingon D-7 Klingon Bird of Prey Merchantman ship Regula Station I would say this is a small number and not a fair number. Just my two cents. |
The Triffid | 21 Nov 2014 8:00 a.m. PST |
Fasa was considered a fairly cannon source when STRPG was released bask on the 80s I still consider it the Best of the Startrek RPGs, but much water has passed under the Bridge sisnce and not many of their designs were from the Series or movies but from their own approved Ideas. So most might be considered Non canon but very nice, the problem with getting any Startrek "Remolds" is Quaility. So much so I long ago decided to scratch build and convert MOST of my own designs based on accepted Cannon or my own Ideas. link The cgi models are examples of the 200+ or so I made for PC game SFC 1-3 Because I hated the models on the Game. Most of the Miniatures on my fclker I have Built myself either from Molds I have made or componenets of completely original scratch-built models, The originals in the Pictures are Either old Fasa, Zochhi or various other makes I have obtained in scale to about 1/3788. |
TheBeast | 21 Nov 2014 2:42 p.m. PST |
@CG Of course, you're millage varies, but I think there were several sukna sin mashes. Canna recall names, but one had Reliant main, Excelsior engineering, and nacelles of an Enterprise, though I don't recall TOS or refit… As even recognizable pieces are involved, I advisedly used the term 'derived.' I would even count several of the Romulan BoPs. Admittedly, it's been quite awhile since I've looked at the 'updates'. I could be dreaming. Doug |
MacrossMartin | 27 Nov 2014 4:57 a.m. PST |
Capt Gideon – From ST 3 we can add the Grissom. It certainly appeared in the FASA range. I guess you could also add the Kobayashi Maru, although there is no canon design for that (simulated) ship. |
Captain Gideon | 27 Nov 2014 9:42 a.m. PST |
I forgot the Grissom(Oberth class)as for the Kobayashi Maru I don't recall it ever appearing in a Star Trek movie. |

FASA is canon to me. ;) Okay by me, their contract was as good as anyone's. Wasn't the ship in STIII that that drunk Taxi guy shot up used for the Kobayashi Maru in one or more of the FASA books? I know the scale seems wrong, but FASA used the same design as different scales elsewhere. Doug |
MacrossMartin | 28 Nov 2014 5:31 p.m. PST |
Doug – No, Kruge spaced a Monarch class (FASA designation) freighter in STIII. The FASA Kobayashi Maru looks like this:

I thought the freighter in "Star Trek III movie", "The Search for Spock" that the Klingon female spy was traveling on was a dead ringer for the FASA Kobayashi Maru model? The Bird of Prey destroyed it in the movie. |
Captain Gideon | 01 Dec 2014 10:14 a.m. PST |
green beanie if you have seen the FASA minis then you wouldn't be mistaking the ship in ST III as the Kobayashi Maru. |

The Kobayashi Maru scene was in The Wrath of Khan. Saavik was taking the test and thus "in command" of the Enterprise. She failed. Later in the same movie, Kirk explained he beat the game by changing the victory conditions. As for miniatures, I still have my D10 and USS Grissom, which is listed as a Gagarin-class starhip (the Oberth name came later). My Enterprise was sadly lost decades ago. A friend still has his ships. |

I did not see anyone mention (ADB), Amarillo Design Burea. They have lot of Federation ships in their "Star Line 2400" series. They used to have some of the Zocci plastics individually, however they do have the Fed. Fleet Box #91 (page 2) that has All 5 of his ships, the Fed DN, CA, DD, Scout, and Tug for about $40 USD, if your still looking. link This "should" take you right to them. Good luck. |

Can I just say that the scratchbuilds that Andrew Lawton has posted links to are amazing, as are their paint jobs. I thought a couple were modified FASA minis, but I see that the saucers have differing details (eg the impulse engine details). I would love Andrew to post some sort of tutorial on his scratchbuilding techniques and painting methods. My FASA paint jobs are main hull color sprayed from cans with acrylic detailing, basic but servicable! :) Mark |
demiurgex | 19 May 2016 2:20 p.m. PST |
Yes, I second this. I'd be interested in the Planet Killer material he used. |
Part time gamer | 19 May 2016 5:37 p.m. PST |
I highly agree, *Adrew Lawton's work is truely amazing. I also would like to know how the "Doomsday Machine" was constructed. And ^5 on the starship to DD machine size ratio, it really seems to work well. At times its hard to believe a 'human being' can achieve such detail. Your battle damaged Enterprise and unless Im mistaken, its a Miranda class (Relient) in that battle are great. But.. WHO WON!? My own paint jobs are as basic as one can get. Like *Trynda1701, the Federation are sprayed white w/some 'absoulute' basic detailing. Sadly the hands arent steady enough to do the straight lines on the engines and main hull. I have also created my own light cruiser, the "Goddess" class. Using one of Zocchi's plastic tugs, I left off the cargo section, file down the connecting point and inserted a cross section between the nacelles.. Im rethinking that design, the 'cross section' may have to be moved more forward. If I had a 'buck' for every time I wished Zocchi had done even a couple the Klingon ships in his hard plastic.. we'd all be rich! |

Hi, I have a small collection of TOS era Trek ships I'm working on, mostly the ADB Starline 2400 Federation and Klingons, with a couple of FASA ships and Micromachine ships added in. I've seen the Irregular ships that look okay, and I've ordered a couple of small Federation ships from Shapeways to see how they look, but what else is currently available for this era of Trek at the same scales? And Darkrazor, do you still have Zocchis? |
stumer | 19 Aug 2016 6:50 a.m. PST |
There are also the 1:3125 scale Federation ships that I made available to Axanar donors in their store, based upon the ships used in the trailer 'Prelude to Axanar.' These were made to the same scale as ADB's 2400 line so they would be compatible. If you can donate, you can get all of them in their store. link |

Hey Drew, thanks for all the great links! I think I'll be picking up a few. Do you know of any sites that have any more fast designs or ships in 1/3900 scale? Everything I saw in the links was at 1/3788 which I think is the battles scale. |

Sorry, Between 1:3788 and 1:3900 they are practically interchangeable (let's not split hairs over the finite difference.) |

Thanks Drew, Picked up some burgstroms! Just waiting for them To arrive. I dig the site, but I'm still looking for more fasa designs or any TMP era ships. Looking for resin or metal. Not really fond of shapeways 3D material. Anyone got any leads? Checked eBay and all that's listed are mint in box fasa ships for 40 to 60 bucks. Not sure if that's the crazy price or the going rates but I'm not grabbing them at that price. |
