Okay, stupid question time … I am trying to figure out which book for this ruleset I should pick up. I have read good things about the rules and seen a "mini rulebook," but also the various "Caompaign books." Which of the hardcover books actually provides the rules for playing the game? Or, do I just get the mini rulebook? I am not particularly interested in any of the campaigns that seem to available. Just need to some clarity as to which book to get. Thanks! |

Get the mini-rule book its enough to get started. The other books have OBs and stuff but you can play with just the mini-book. Cheap way to find out if its worth investing more resources into the game (it is by the way a very good game.) TomT |

You cannot play BG without either BG Kursk or the mini-rulebook. The other books are supplements and require mini-book or BGK to provide the core rules as they don't include them. |

If you want to play 1943 Russia, then BG Kursk is all you need as the rules and all Stats are included. For all the other periods you need BOTH the small rulebook and the Sourcebook for the stats. Pat |

This may help if you want a feel for the rules… link |

Mini rulebook is the core rules. Other books are specific lists, scenarios, some added rules, stats etc. BG Kursk, the first book also contains the rules, but is out of print, though copies are around, shop around though as some are inflating the cost beyond the RRP. |

I just want to point out that the mini book is just that. Mini. Very small font size. I find it very hard to read with my old eyes. I like the game, but wish the mini rule book was larger in size. I don't have any set up for the Russian front so was not interested in Battlegroup,Kursk. I like Overlord a lot. |

Ah I see. So, my primary forces are from the north africa and med theaters. Is there sufficient information in one of the supplements for me to use the rules? |

Kursk PDF is almost ready, and I think the rulebook will soon be in PDF after that… as id like a bigger printed version too! Sid, I have been using the Overlord book to do Italy. We start work on the Africa book in the new year once I finish up on Blitzkrieg. |

In fact Woz just posted an AAR of a recent Italian front game… link |

Thanks Piers. Well, I ordered the mini book. After reading the after actions and such, I think Battlegroup maybe what I am looking for as a "upgrade" from Bolt Action. My forces are primarily Commonwealth (Sikh regiments), so sounds like I need to get Overlord in addition to the mini rule book. Thanks again! |

CAn Battlegroup played in 28mm? And if so, how big a table is needed? |

What is the scale of the units? Is one vehicle model=one vehicle? What is the scale for infantry stands? Thanks. |

One to one, individually based infantry; that said, my friend uses his 15mm FOW collection as is, just marking off casualties on the bases. My club is currently doing the assault on Seelow Heights, April 18th 1945: to do this we just used squads to represent companies etc

I have three of the Battlegroup Books- Kursk, Overlord and Barbarossa. I am really looking forward to release of the Blitzkrieg book in April and may even buy the Fall of the Reich one. |
